I'm not new to MSN Adcenter but I have now run into a strange problem there. I had uploaded a new campaign structured like normal:

- containing about 100 adgroups
- each adgroup has 2 keywords. That is; one for "phrase" and one for [exact]
- each adgroup has 6 different text ads with its own unique destination URL, based on the keyword

All is well, right? No… Shortly after I submitted the campaign, I started getting impressions and clicks. But THEN after only 40 impressions and 5 clicks… everything froze. And it stayed that way. So I emailed Adcenter support, and as always they are very quick to answer - and helpful! (Unlike Google's shitty excuse for support). The explanation I was given doesn't make sense to me though:

You created 108 ad groups, using one to two keywords per ad group. What this has done has created competition with yourself. What I would suggest at this time is having one ad group that contains all the keywords then fully optimize the one ad group.
So now they're saying I should be having ONE adgroup with ALL my keywords in it? That's not how I have done it there before, and it really doesn't make sense.

Has anyone else had this happen to their Adcenter campaigns?

I have the same problem with my first campaigne in Adcenter! I created 1-2 keywords adgroups i set the same bids like in YSM and all i got was 3 clicks and everything stopped! I didnt call them bcuz i thought i did something wrong but maybe they just don't want me to do it that way! prolly they make more money by us having one keyword rich adgroup to bid higher until something happen! Noob here so it's very posible to be missing something in my campaign! I will change to one adgroup to see if it works that way

They don't like how efficient you are. They won't make as much money if you laser target your stuff like that. What they're really saying is, stop making campaigns so well, so we can show your ads for weird searches and hopefully get you more clicks. We don't care if they're related to your niche or not.

You're being penalized for doing a good job. That's MSN for you.

Adcenter doesn't do the whole QS bullshit and I don't think they even do QS at a group level, just KW level. Might be wrong though.

So yeah, just enjoy - those groups are there for you, not them lol.

I AM new to adcenter and I have a strange problem too.

Let's say I set my max bid to .70 how the fuck is it possible that my avg. cpc is at 1.05 now??wtf?

It's crazy, but I am at that point right now! My shit has frozen, maybe if you have the same KW in there, have it as phrase, and then have a veriation as that kw, it counts it as the same? That is the only thing I can think of, anyone else??

yea that makes a lot of sense... bidding on the keyword mufflers in the headlights ad group. maybe msn would prefer if you just threw them all into the group called "auto parts".
