I've got tons of music ripped to lossless flac and am satisfied with using XBMC to stream at home. Occasionally use the Pandora addon for XBMC and that's OK. Been looking for a mobile solution and have been trying out music streaming services. Interested in what you all are using and why you like it.

Most important to me is sound quality and could care less for the social aspects. I would just like to match a portion of my collection, import some playlists and create a handful of stations to explore other artists. I don't do iTunes and I don't use Windows Media Player, so not sure what other import options are available with these services for collection matching...XML import scripts?

So far I've tried out Spotify, Rdio, Slacker and the new Beats Music. Still need more time with Spotify, but the sound is good. Slacker is good but the sound sucks more often than not. Rdio is the top contender so far - good sound and I like how you can have it playing on one device and control it from another. Beats Music is brand new but I find the interface way too busy and have experienced garbled audio and a lot of buffering - growing pains perhaps. Gonna finish out the trial and then move on and maybe try Google All Access.

Spotify all day, everyday.
Get the premium. You can download to your phone and not worry about bad signal or streaming fees.

& to all who bitch about Pandora being cheaper than Spotify...

OK, going to try premium for awhile.

Another option I'm looking into is setting up Logitech Media Server (Squeezebox Server) at home and catalog my ripped music library. Then I can install this Orange Squeeze app on my phone and have access to my personal catalog as well as Spotify, Pandora and a bunch of all these other services through a single app.

I run a Plex server so I can stream my movies and music anywhere on the network, and also over the internet. There is a ios Plex app for $4.99 that I use to watch and listen to my stuff when I'm away from home on the iphone. If you have bluetooth to your car, this works awesome. I have a huge collection of music in flac format on my server so I have all I need. If you want to run a Plex server at home, just about any machine will do, but you really should have a robust firewall. Keep those unsavory fuckers out of your network. If you're elite like me you're running pfsense (with snort, paid version) on a dedicated machine. Wonder if the NSA could get in to my network? Prolly. Anyways, try Plex, it rocks. And it's free except for the iphone app.
