Below is an image of my arbitrage landing page. It's blurred out to "protect my niche", but all the areas are marked so you know what they are. I think i've got a pretty good page going, but haven't been able to scrounge up enough traffic to figure it out. I've currently only sent it searchfeed traffic, which has been complete shit... like < %5 conversion rate. I can't see it being the page's fault, so i'm going to blame it on the shitty traffic. The traffic is showing up on my AdSense impressions, and in my server logs, but not on my statcounter stats... so it makes me think that the "users" don't stick around long enough for the tracking script to load. If that's the case... then they're not real users and I'm getting click fraud traffic.

Anyways, take a look at it... comment on it if you'd like. Post up a screenshot of your landing pages if you really wanna help some people out.

Click the image, to see it without all the red shit on it.

It looks good. Have you considered other ways to bring in traffic? What have you tried?

I am still learning a lot, but your layout makes sense. Just curious, why the ads on the right?

Being that it's an arbitrage site, and there's not any significant content, it's not particularly "linkworthy"... so working for natural listings are pretty much out of the question. If I can get my conversion rate up to par, then I'll up my keyword list and put it on more PPC engines. I'm waiting for my keyword list to be uploaded to 7search... so I'll see if I have better luck with their traffic.

As for the ads on the right, I'm guessing you're referring to the 336 x 280 block... If I flipped it around and put the ads on the left and the image on the right, then it would look funny 'cause it would just be the tail end of the ad text coming close to the image, so it would pretty much break it apart from the image. I've tried it both ways... and it just leads the eye better the way it is.

hehe, that's centered on a white page.

Usually, I set the site up with an innocuous looking first page and then the second page they go to looks something like the shot above. I keep it within the same design idea though so they're not like WTF!?!

Simple does the trick.

How is that doing for you? Do you have any stats on how long a user is on the page before they close the window or click an ad? And how are you getting them to the second page?

The CTR fluctuates along the lines of 30-50%. Suprisingly, visitors vist more than one page (using the strategy I posted in the post above) - usually two, the second is where I have the highest number of exists, often by means of an ad click.

Colors seem to be important. I'm not sure which one's work best yet, but the variation between sites is high. That may have to do with content and ad targeting accuracy. I need to do more analysis.

Again simplicity rules, and I find that just having the boxes is much better than the skyscrapers and the big banners.

EDIT:

I get them to the second page by means of a menu on the left side near the top. On the second page I remove the menu, and have just a link a the very top to get back to the main page. I have only one ad on the first page, a box next to the menu. No pictures. Just text and some color.

kyle... you have a lot of adsense ads on that site. when you have so many ads, the ones listed in the bottom of your html code have dilluted click values. soooo, if people are clicking on these ads, you're making less per click.

i've found that it's better to have less adsense panels and keeping them in prime places rather than putting up a ton of adsense to fill the page.

just a thought

Can you post where you read that? I'd like to look into it a bit.

So you're saying 2 AdSense units would be better than 3 AdSense units + 1 link unit?

Yeah, I'm well aware of that. At the moment, I'm just trying to see what ups my conversion rate. I have each of the ads broken up into their own groups to see where people are clicking. If one of the ad units are getting significantly less clicks than the others, then I'll drop that one. But right now I'm mainly worrying about getting my conversion rate up, then I'll work on optimizing the revenue. Thanks for the tip though.

I'd agree that 2 AdSense ads is best.

I haven't had any good experiences with the AdLink.

Why aren't you putting the large (3rd) horizontal ad in the text? lLike after the second paragraph?
You might also try using another ad block and putting it on the right.

Errr... holler if you need a quick photochop, I am too lazy right now.

I put the leaderboard at the very bottom thinking that if somebody actually read through all of my content, then they'd exit the page through an ad once they hit the bottom of the page. Moving it into the content section isn't a bad idea though.

I'm already at 3 ad units on the page, so I can't add another one as it is. I could due away with the leaderboard, and put a skyscraper to the right of the content... what do y'all think?

I think that might be a good idea.. give it a try and report back!

Just an update... The page I posted is only getting a 15% CTR, but I'm going to blame that on the shitty traffic from SearchFeed and 7Search, and not the page itself.

Also something worth noting... all the clicks that I have gotten have been on the 336 x 280 block. So if you're using a similar layout, be sure to use some absolute positioning to get the 336 x 280 block to appear first in your code to get the highest paying ads in that space.
