Yeah yeah ok I know credit cards is the most competitive market and all that but i had this domain CreditCardopia.com so I set up an affiliate site on it. I know it still needs some work but if anybody can give me some CONSTRUCTIVE criticism it would be much appreciated....

  • Move the "Home : News: etc" stuff to the footer of the page for a start.
Without any CSS attached to it, it's taking up space, and looks ugly & out of place.
  • Center it as well, with elastic sides. Nicer to look at something in the middle of the screen than to the left.
  • Put the "Featured Articles" and "Related Topics" up the top so you don't look like a total commercial shill.
  • Those "Apply Now" buttons are actually painful to look at. I know what they are, but to clearly make out the text strains my eyes. Make them a SOLID shade that contrasts with the colour. White for dark colours, black for light colours. If you HAVE to pretty it up, just give them some internal shadows.
  • Try to make the banner up the top match the rest of the design on the site
  • Try to make the layout on the "Articles" page conform to the layout of the front page. It's obvious that I'm looking at scraped content.

Thanks harvey, I did all the changes you suggested and it does indeed look much better.

Its not bad, but you really need to get the header redone.

Head over to the marketplace at digitalpoint. You can get a decent looking banner for $5 - $10.

Thanks man, Ill try that, I have to admit this is my first time w/ graphic design and I suck balls.:anon.sml:

It seems pretty hard to fuck up the systems like the one your using from Credit Card Land.

Its a decent start but you may find it hard to rank when you and tons of other people are all doing a copy paste job into your template with bad header.

the header sucks if compared to the rest of the page, it'll look really better after you change it with a better one

I wouldn't use arial in box titles and related topics but this is a minor thing

yeah im shopping for a header designer right now, That (obviously) was my first attempt at graphic/web design. thanks for your input guys!

just a minor suggestion...the topic titles on the left side of the page would be much more pleasing to the eye if you made them a darker shade of blue to help them stand out a bit more. and yes the header does kinda suck....but you are in the right direction!

Thanks

Just wanted to thank everyone again for the advice, myowndemon did exactly what i asked with the design of the new header. The site is still not finished yet but I must say it looks much better. :rasta:

I suggest moving the page up closer to the header, if not making the left nav touch the bottom of the header. It think it would make the page look smoother. just my opinion though.

Definitely do three things:
1) Close the gap between header and content (that's 50 pixels you are wasting?)
2) Fix the news page. Learn how to set up a wordpress blog and put it in there, post once or twice a week.
3) AAAAAAhhhh... FIX the about us page something quick. Make it look like the home page, remove the pictures. Use only one picture of yourself. Make it a respectable, business-man like appearance.

::emp::

Done, The about us page is being updated, installed wordpress. Blog is up and running (links are being updated just use /blog). Thanks for your input.

Links updated, anyone got good suggestions on where I can get some origonal content while I write some myself?
