Nice car, however your statement is slightly incorrect. The Mustang v6 is a much better bargain when considering $/hp.

GT500 $54,995/650=$84.60 (horsepower per dollar)

Mustang v6 $22,200/305hp=72.78
Mustang GT coupe $71.14
Camaroo SS $74.77
Challenger RT $79.77
Charger RT $81.07
Chrysler 200 $81.86

The Kia Forte isn't far behind, even with only 156HP at $87.78

In the words of Jeremy Clarkson about the difference between the new (Corvette) Z06 and (Ferrari) 575 Maranello...."The price of the Z06 is 60K pounds, the price of the 575M, 160K pounds. And if a martian came to earth he would have the devils old job explaining why. So why is there a $100K price gap?...after a whole day at the track I couldn't work it out at all."

It really depends what you are buying your car for. If you are buying a car to show the world how much taste you have, then spend it on a Maserati. If you want the highest performance car you can get for your money, then spend it on a Corvette.

I don't appreciate high performance cars enough to want to spend that kind of money on a car like the Corvette, but I can't hate on the people who do.
 
Exactly I wanted performance. It had nothing to do with taste or luxury.

I already own luxury cars.

Not hating either, but for a substantial amount of horsepower since he says that is what he bought it for, the 2013 shelby mustang would have been a better buy ;)

Horsepower means nothing if it can get to the road.

Check the 0 to 60 times for the corvettes compared to others.

Like others said the new Gen vettes has been known to hang with high end Ferrari's in performance

And again the 2013 Shelby isn't out yet until summer 2012
