NAACP doesn't like this chimp reference, fails to respond to Bush/Chimp comparisons

As I've stated before, you guys are all a bunch of whiners. To depict teh monkey as Obama is teh brainchild of the NAACP and not of teh cartoonist. Teh cartoonist depicted teh monkey as representative of our idiotic senators and congressmen who crafted teh porkulous spending bill.

This fabricated outrage is teh NAACP trying to get themselves into headlines and nothing more.

Teh NAACP is a mafia of racist flame fanners and all(most) of you are falling for it.
 


It's funny that both sides are calling each other whiners. Other than that, I have nothing new to add....

Oh except: My husband has a tradition of saying inappropriate things and sticking his foot in his mouth. So much so that he would look for a distraction. So whenever he does this and everyone is looking at him in stunned silence his story usually trails off...and he then he says, "Hey look at that Monkey"!

hmmm maybe it is all about being a guy. Cause when I mumble and he can't understand me (which I do when I'm distracted by work or something) instead of saying "What?" 17 times he says: "Once, but I was young and needed the money". I have no idea why he does that but it works and I speak up.

For me, the issue seems to be clear. If comparing bush to a monkey was OK, then comparing Obama to one is OK as well.

Yes, I know it has racist connotations, but it should have been nipped (spelling?) in the bud when it started with bush.

It was okay back then? Free speech, satire, artisitic expression? Tough luck, means it is okay now. Free speech, satire, artisitic expression.

I think people are missing the point.

Noone is saying you can't make fun of Obama. People have been doing it since before he announced his run for the presidency. You can insult the man, especially as president, he's fair game. You just can't insult a whole race of people at the same time.

And like I said, the "blacks-as-monkeys" reference as offensive slang has been around for a very long time. Please don't be ignorant of that.

I find it hard to believe that the cartoonist wasn't aware of the possible backlash, it looks so obvious to me.

It would be ballsy, but I'm hoping Obama will call out the NAACP and those other extremist groups and basically tell them to STFU in the nicest way possible.

He'd get a lot more respect from every American who isn't black. The more I hear black this black that, the more I feel like an alien in my own country because I'm not black.
