Is Core i7 better than a top of the line Quad Core proc? I plan on running 4gb minimum ram.

Is Raid 1 better than Raid 0 when it comes to HDD.

Thanks

Pick up the lowest priced i7 chip right now, along with a eVGA triple-SLI mobo - the x58. i7's are quad cores with hyperthreading, and work best when you've got 3 sticks of ram. I'm running 3 sticks of 2gb each, and it makes me glow with a happy, happy feeling.

You can overclock the i7's like crazy, and eVGA has put out a step-by-step guide to doing so. I'm up to 3.3 or so, stable.

The regular quad-cores are on their way out.

The i7's aren't faster for games than a quad-core, but they are a lot faster for certain applications. Just don't expect huge gaming gains if you already have a quad core processor. It won't be any slower, but lots of people like to min/max the return on their benefit for the costs.

Never run a raid. Just picked up a velociraptor for the main drive then a terabite WD black drive for everything else.

Oh yeah, coolermaster's new ATCS 840 case rocks. Almost perfect. Ordered mine from performance pcs with all internal wires sleeved. Very easy to work in, quiet and cool.
