Need Help With A List of Local Businesses

Is there a site that offers a download of every business in an area? For instance I'm looking for every business in a 20 mile radius of 18042. Ideally it would output a list including:

• business name
• business info (category, description, etc)
• address
• phone
• website

I've found some that offer per category, but I'm looking for the whole shebang. I'm thinking there must be a good site out there that is just off the radar of my searches. I do have a yellow page scraper, but can't get it working the way I need it to.

Your best bet is scraping yell.com. There was a scraper available here in 2008 not sure if its going to work anymore; I know they have added alot of anti-scraping stuff.

Your local chamber will give you a list of their business. Check BBB, they our business listed even though I won't/don't do business with them. I am referring to my wife's and mine business. And, of course, you can keep doing the yellowpages. Try to hook up with a yellow pages rep and see if they can give you a list?

Yelp has an API that I have used for this purpose. I've only done it in low volumes though so I stayed under the radar. You can get a lot of information for a business and search within a certain radius, etc.

??? Narsticle just gave you the resource -- Salesgenie does exactly what you want.

Salesgenie has a database of 14+ million businesses searchable by zipcode (plus, employee size, sales volume $$, etc)

Those YP scrapers don't work any more but they sure were great. Totally worth the money for what I got out of them.

I built a couple of scrapers for this purpose not that far back for yelp, aol yellow pages, yellowpages.com, and a couple of other sites that narrow down by city/category/subcategory. If you don't find anything elsewhere, consider me a last resort and PM me and I can revive them and probly fix you up for a nominal fee for my time.
