Need to help my buddy out... he's going bankrupt :(

Ive had some luck with building niche sites for serviceprovidedcitynameorarea.coms getting them ranked and leasing them month to month to businesses in that area. Its not killer money and take a little time to get ranked/stable, but labor type services (cleaners, plumbers) in cities/towns are pretty are pretty easy targets

Yeah, he doesn't - his link velocity tanked. He believed if he just tried to build something high quality (like askthebuilder.com kinda quality) then he'd be safe.
He can help someone who doesn't know anything though.. He's been doing well for 6 years. A lot of legit people and really good SEOs got fucked in panda/penguin.

I'm glad you didn't but no need to be so hateful man.

I'm sorry for him, if it's any consolation Askthebuilder.com actually lost 70% of their traffic after the recent Panda update.

"Adapt or die."

I had the idea of doing exactly that for attorneys, but after ranking one site talked myself out of the idea. I think blue collar business would be a better target.

less money, but way easier to rank and build. get 10-20 of these babies running and its a nice little monthly bump.

Tell them you already have leads, assuming the site is ranked...go in being like, "you're the first attorney I've contacted in the area, which makes this offer super sweet for you..." They will want to take your business just to fuck the other guy out of more business, most will anyways.

I'm amazed that your "friend" was able to make 25k a month with that skillset.

I'm amazed that despite making three hundred thousand dollars a year, he was still living in "the ghetto" and needed to use almost all of his savings in order to pick up a short-sale.

Generally, rent in the ghetto is well under 1k a month. Where did the other 24k go?

I find your story fascinating for all of the inflated numbers and sympathy plays in it, but in the end, it fails.

Maybe if you were able to write convincing content, your sites wouldn't have gotten murdered by Penguin?

Wanted to add: He also needs to get a fucking handle on his expenses. $4k a month is easily enough for a family to live on, in a decent neighbourhood.

I was going to say something like this. I don't mean to be a dick but your friend sounds like a fucking idot. Banking $20k - $25k a month and doesn't have a safety blanket? Buys a fucking house rather than rent an apartment? Sounds like this guy needs every reason to go totally broke, because honestly that the only way this kind of person learns is if they hit total rock bottom.

You tell me man... He didn't always make 25k/mo anyway... started out from nothing when I gave him one of my throwaway blogs I didn't have time to develop. Had no posts on it, no theme, and he built it over time with hard work and tried not to bother me with too many questions... though I always welcomed them... and I wish he had listened to me more when I told him to build more sites... he was like I dunno isn't that spammy? I was like that's survival and diversification....

I'm just trying to help out a friend in need. Just because you would abandon one of your good friends when he needs your help does not mean that I would do the same. So nope, I'm not lying. I'm diversified and in a position to spend some time helping a friend.

Oh lord, how stupid are WE are to believe that HE isn't on this forum asking these questions?

LMAO

believe whatever you want, I'm just helping out a friend. I really hope he takes action on this because I think you guys have been really helpful in your suggestions.

Pretty interesting indeed.
All I learned from this post is that I gotta pay more attention to Ly2 from WF.

Client work. Have him do SEO for people he knows who have websites and charge $300-400/mo.

You don't see the irony in this suggestion?

He obviously does not know good sustainable SEO, yet all you assholes are telling him to do other peoples/clients SEO?

Laughable.

You beat me to it.

Yeah he went from 20-25k/mo to $4k/mo... right after he used almost all of his savings to get into house that was on forclosure...

So if he was making 25k a month and he spent most of savings buying a foreclosed house, I'm going to guess the house is paid for or he put a huge deposit on it and so his mortgage can't be that big. He can't live now on $4k a month?!

Hello friend,

While make $4,000 month consider poor for American I think it still enough money to no have go bankrupt. Just have spend money for cheap food, pay mortage, pay for electricity and water.

Should stop buy any items luxury and stop live good life. No do thing like buy every new iPhones or iPads that release for entire family or spend $100 almost every day on diner expensive at restaurant.

If friend make $25,000 month for many years then should have good money saved. If he use all money for buy mansion expensive then maybe should sell house. When sell mansion expensive will have lot cash.

If friend person smart I think eventual he come back and will make more money then before. Just use cash from sell house for live until he make good money again.

Good luck bro

Sumit delivers. Wisest words here I think.

I can't understand why he's going bankrupt. He's making $4k a month. Even if the house isn't in fact paid for, he should still be able to pay up to a ridiculous $2-3k mortgage, his utilities, and put food on the table. Care to elaborate WHY he can't live on $4k a month?

I still don't understand why he has to declare bankruptcy when he's still making $4k a month. If he's from the ghetto then shouldn't he be used to getting around with $4k a month or less?

If he was making $25k a month for years then shouldn't he at least have a few hundred thousand saved up? Since he used all the money to buy up a foreclosure property then he doesn't have a mortage or rent to worry about.

Even if he paid $500k deposit on a million dollar home, the remaining monthly payments should still be less than $4k a month. Does he have 2 or more expense cars or something like a private yatch he has to make monthly payments on too?
