NetFlix v. Blockbuster Online?

Thinking about joining the rest of you in the 21st century and getting a movie subscription account - I've finally carved out time for about two movies a month, and it'd be nice to a have a queue going for all the ones I want to see sometime in this lifetime.

So the question is - do I Blockbuster or Netflix?

Netflix is pretty awesome. And their online streaming movies is (slowly) getting better, though I haven't actually used it in a few months.

Just cancelled my blockbuster online account today - always a long wait on new movies. Gonna just start using torrents.

Netflix has my vote.

If you can, check to see if you have a distribution center for one or the other near you. Check to see how fast other people living by you are getting their movies after they order them.

Netflix is obscenely fast in Omaha.

Those little redbox stands are all over the place and work well for me. $1 / 1 night / on demand.

It's a smaller inventory than netflix and blockbuster, but torrents usually fill in the empty spaces.

Netflix is awesome. $8.99 a month for one movie at a time and it's only a 3 day turnaround from when you send one out to when you get the next one.

Also I have Xbox live so I can watch unlimited movies on there any time, it's pretty sweet action.

Netflix FTW!!! I have subscribed for like 3 years now, or so and love it. I haven't used Blockbuster, but I would do a bit of research on how long DVD's take to get to your place. I have a distro center very close so it is only 1 day there and 1 day back. Also, I learned that if you put movies in your cue that come out Tuesday (of next week) and you send your movies back Saturday, more times then not you will get the new releases the day they come out. This works about 90% of the time for me.

^ The streaming works pretty well. The selection isn't the greatest yet. Mostly older movies and whatnot, but I have watched quite a few I was interested in.

I've been really surprised with the streaming actually. I watch it on a 46" hdtv, and it looks the same as a dvd if not better with no lagging at all.

The selection isn't that great, but I still have a big list of stuff that I want to see waiting in my queue.

I have been using Netflix for years too.

I recently bought a Samsung BD-2550 Blu-Ray player with built in Netflix streaming and have been using it a lot. The streaming movies look decent on my 50" plasma. Netflix is slowly offering more streaming titles in HD.

I'm a BB fan...I've never had a problem getting movies quickly and I love being able to take them back to the store and get a new one while I wait for something from my list to show up.

I am using netflix now

if you love foreign/indie movie, use netflix. They have much more titles than BB.

if you love blockbuster, use BB. I have pineapple express in my queue for a month and it is still in long wait, which means i might not get it until next month. With BB you can pick it up from their B&M store if a movie is not available online

I use BB only because I can take my mailed movies back to the store and pick up new ones with free movie coupons. I get 2 a month with my plan plus unlimited online movies.

The queue on movies is really bad though.

I feel Blockbuster as a company, is a peice of shit, and the next time they change my goddamn plan and want me to pay more for less movies, I'm off to netflix.

I had Netflix for about 6 or 7 years. I was one of the first using it and loved it until about 6 months ago. The wait time was long, and they kept throttling me, since I would watch the movie and drop it off the same or next day.

Now we just use RedBox, which lets you pick up movies at the grocery store. I have one 2 minutes away and use it a few times a week. The selection is pretty limited, but they have all the new stuff.
