WHAT THE FUCK?

Attention Affiliates:

Beginning January 1st 2010, Neverblue will transition its Affiliate based referral program. The program will be changing from 2% commissions for life, to 2% commissions for 6 months. Please note that all existing referrals will be honored until June 30th 2010.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact your Affiliate Manager.

  • Cheers,
    The Neverblue Team

That royally sucks for people who worked hard to recruit for them to live off the override.

Margins are getting smaller and smaller, and the bigger networks with an actual corporate infrastructure can't compete with the smaller networks taking a 5% margin. Something has to give.

However - I think it is a bit misleading that networks can do it for existing referrals. Why would someone want to blog about a network, expecting to make life time referrals and then have the network take back the promise after they collected all the publishers. Doesn't seem fair, even though no body ever said life would be fair in the first place...

I agree. I think the biggest problem is the fact that this came completely out of left field.

You can't tell publishers that they're going to receive commissions for life and than take back that promise.

I just lost a shitload of respect for Neverblue. I don't think they realize it, but all of the people who refer new affiliates to NB because it's a "Great Place to Start" are going to start sending them elsewhere.

Oh well...

I love how they did it on xmas eve too - the email will probably go unread/unnoticed by quite a few.

good. maybe the death of referral commissions will lead to the death of lame ass bloggers who make their living off of it :: cough tyler cruz cough ::

Doesn't most of the 2% come out of the affiliates payout anyway?

no dumbnut, it comes completely out of the networks pocket.

This question is idiotic for 2 reasons:

1. People know the exact pay per lead, and if they multiple it by the number of leads they can figure out exactly how much they should be paid. If you scrape 2% off that, the person would notice...

2. People would specifically make sure that they weren't referred (if it were to come out of their pocket), and it would kill the methodology of referrals in the first place.

lmao.

this could actually be a good move. remove this referral bs and pay the actual affiliate more money per offer.
