↑↑ I've got an EEE701.... Fucking love it!
It's not nearly as hot as the later generation models and has longer battery life, especially if you get the 11000mAh battery option.
The 701 runs at an unclocked speed of around 633MHz, and is still powerful enough for me to run XP from a thumbdrive, with Word, Excel, Chrome and Winamp all going.
I can also plug my phone in as a modem when there's no wi-fi, no worries.
It's also small enough to fit in the pocket of my overcoat. Sure, that means pissant small screen, and small keyboard, but hey, I'm already used to typing on a TyTn2. Seen how big the keyboard on that bastard is!?
My only beef with the keyboard is the placement of the arrow keys.
It could use a bit more power to the USB ports as well, because anything that needs more power than a mouse just doesn't work unless you've got one of those double USB cables... which you can't use under an externally booted HDD, because it's got to reside in the first USB port for some reason.
As for iTunes, the music manager thing in Linux works just fine with iPods. Can't get more stuff FROM iTunes, but you can up and download music from your iPod with no hassles.
