New Mobile App Released - Any Cat Lovers?



The press seems to have fallen off sadly. I had hoped it would snow ball for quite some time. But its been awesome to see the new early adopters.

Trying to figure out the Android version but I have never owned an Android device or programed native apps for it.

If you have done native iOS, you're smart enough to figure out Android. I just started diving into it recently. It's weird as fuck compared to iOS, and Android Studio is a bloated turd in my opinion.

That being said, nothing stopping you from learning. Also, you need to up your game on the marketing. Spend some money on reddit ads, get a twitter bot going for cat lovers, etc.

This is where it's time to get creative, and also where most people would just give up. I don't think you realize you're on the brink of massive success right now.

I can totally see how that's relevant to up-voting a cat tagging app. Just because his tagging app got a mention from someone on the same platform doesn't mean it's right to tie the two together or give him false hopes under the guise of "motivation". It's actually demotivational, because one service is real and has real application and purpose and the other, is more for fun and time killing. It's demotivational, because I have to point that out now rather than just letting him have his moment in time of :banana_sml: .

Magic was formed from another company, already backed by support line of Y Combinator graduate. By being placed inside the old boys club of the VC mecca they already have things going for them. This fine member here, is going at it alone and asking for a bit of help.

I'm not trying to be a dick about it even by raising up the point and calling it out, but its really just silly when someone swoops in with a link related to something in the VC culture and says "here, this will help!" -- and it does just the damn opposite. It only helps the person thinking that placing the link is a good idea and that he/she is paying it forward and stuff.

If you want to help the guy, give him the upvote he requested, and THEN drop the irrelevant link and you will have added value to him and not gotten called out on it.

I would have upvoted.... but I'm a dog person all the way. Woof motherfuckers.
 
I'm personally not a big fan of cat's but I'll still give you a upvote. Have you thought about using Admob along with Facebook.

Damn well put! I have no grand visions of VC money pouring down on me. I busted ass making the app on the floor of a 4 bed hostel in Sydney for 4 months. I have never built anything so large from scratch and it was a great learning experience. There were no teams of designers, programers, or sys admins. I cobbled the whole thing together from what i learned over the years. The best I can hope for is no big fireball if the app takes off. Without the VC cash it means the whole app is just on my server with no fancy load balancing or other expensive perks.

At best I hope that some day the app gives me some great credibility. I was just a shitty affiliate marketer for years. Now something I have built has made it to television, international news headlines, and now onto the highly regarded startup space of Product Hunt. Its an amazing accomplishment even if the app does not end up a success.
 
I was just about to pull in my drive way when a lady with a stroller was crossing the road... I look closer, and it's a specially designed stroller with a god damn CAT inside of it.

Your idea has potential brah! BTW, what are the #'s now in terms of cat pics / users?
