Hey guys, I'm brand new here, brand new to it all. I'm 17, and I don't have a job. I'm decent with computers, been using them for 7 years. I don't know alot of html at all. I'm a pretty decent writer, and I can follow guides, and other shit pretty well. I'm willing to learn most anything, but I definitely need to get into the money making (even if its just $400 a month) soon. One problem is that I don't have any money to invest. Any tips, links, anything to help me get started making money online. Blogging, affiliate marketing, any of it is fine with me. thanks guys

$400 a month is a realistic goal for someone just starting
out, however, it'll probably take you a couple months of
hard work and trial/error to get there.

You've already found WickedFire, so you are way ahead
of where I was when I first started out. Spend at least
4-5 hours a day reading posts on here, and don't be
afraid to try out the ideas and techniques you read about.

Also, without any money to spend on advertising,
outsourcing, etc... expect to invest a lot of time into this job.

I'm also still quite new at all of this, but let me tell you,
working for yourself is fucking sweet!:)

As a fellow minor entrepreneur (15 here), I know from EXPERIENCE that without seed money, you are fucked. End of story. There is no reliable way to make any money without money to invest.

The bottom line is it takes money to make money.

If you can't come up with at least $200 to get you started (domains, hosting, ppc, etc) then AM is not for you. Maybe try blogging.

Not necessarily true. There are actually quite a few ways to get the ball rolling without spending $200.

Domain: $8~.

First month at Hostgator: $0.01 (with a discount code - if you can't find one on your own then you really are fucked)

There you go. Ten bucks. You'll learn a lot in the process and it's very likely that even a shitty site will make $10 over the course of a month. Rinse, repeat.

Hell, you could even go without spending even that. Wordpress, Blogger, Weebly. There are an assload of options that cost a whopping $0.00.

There are plenty of other threads around here with ideas on getting started without having much to initially invest - Zach606 is right about reading a ton of threads here, except one thing - don't spend 4-5 hours a day reading them. In my opinion, that's way too much, you'll get 'information overload'. 1-2 hours / day at most, pick something you think you'd like to do, and do it. Focus focus focus.

If you need inspiration, read the "Do it Fucking Now" article. If you can bash it into your head, it's gold. Hell, print that shit out.

I agree. You can definitely make money without have $200 bucks on hand. Progress will be much slower. I was mainly referring to affiliate marketing because you need money to put towards PPC. You can always find vouchers but often times it takes more than that to learn the ropes.

Either way, like everyone else said, you are in the right place.
Read the forums until your eyes bleed, Search when in doubt, and lastly ask here if you still have questions.

If you are only 17 you are off to a great start. I wish I would of gotten into this when I was 17. :D

cheers

One or two hours a day of reading is great. You don't want to learn too much too fast. Maybe you want to work a part time job to get your business started. And do take advantage of blogging. Write blog articles with good content and relevant keywords.

I totally agree, 4-5 hours might be a bit of a stretch for some people. Just do what you feel comfortable with, and definitely don't JUST read. You will learn much more important lessons by actually trying out stuff for real.

If you don't have any cash to start out, maybe give article marketing a try. Try writing (or rewriting) articles, submitting them to Ezine Article Submission - Submit Your Best Quality Original Articles For Massive Exposure, Ezine Publishers Get 25 Free Article Reprints with links back to a simple landing page (created/hosted for free with GooglePages) Monetize your landing page with adsense and/or affiliate offers.

This technique can often require more work than it's worth, but it's a good way to get started and learn a lot about copywriting. Through LOTS of trial and error I've become able to consistently write articles that generate over $100 a piece, and only take about 20 minutes to write. (I sound like a prick haha) So it is very possible to make money without capital to invest, just be prepared to work hard for it.

oh yea, and don't ever pay for any ebooks or any shit like that!

Zach,

Are you estimating the adsense/aff income generated from single articles to be $100 ? If so, is that $100/month, or what time frame?

I've been doing some article submitting, and while they are starting to get grabbed off of the ezine sites and published to other sites, I'm not seeing any $ yet. I'm probably too impatient ...

Chunkles,

I usually get the bulk of my traffic within the first 48 hours after the article is published. And if I'm lucky that'll result in about 50-100 visitors. The secret is in the article and resource area (where you link to your site).. really hype up whatever affiliate offer you are going to be linking to from your page. Tell them exactly why they need it, how to sign up, and that you have links to it at the bottom of the article.. but don't make it too obvious that your are selling something. Combine that with a high paying offer, and even if only a few of those 50-100 visitors complete, you've still made some decent cash.

I've found that the title of the article is very important when it comes to getting those initial hits. Just experiment with different titles, or use Free Keyword Suggestion Tool from Wordtracker to suggest some keywords to use as titles.

After the initial 48 hour-ish rush, the traffic will usually screech to an abrupt halt. Then, after a while, you may see a little trickle of traffic come in once your article gets indexed in the search engines. However, this traffic doesn't seem to convert as well for some reason.

Keep trying lots of new things and look at what others are doing. Hope that helps!

You don't need much money to make money. I wish I would have gotten into this when I was a lot younger, instead I spent my time figuring out how to see the most amount of porn online for free- and playing Starcraft... and chatting with babes (or old men, I'm not too sure).....

You have all the time in the world. Pick up a domain for 8 dollars a year and hosting for 6-7 bucks a month and start developing a content site... eventually it will pay off. I know you can come up with 6 bucks a months. Save your lunch money or mow some lawns or suck some dick- whatever you kids do for money these days.

Wow, that's exactly how I spent the years from 1998-2000ish.

I guess I've really matured...I play a lot less Starcraft.
