I have to recommend this to people. This is the History Channels first fully scripted show - not a documentary, but very historically accurate. It's a historical epic like Braveheart basically but a lot more accurate. It's HBO show quality.

From wiki:
Filmed in Ireland, the series is inspired by the tales about the Viking Ragnar Lodbrok,[2] one of the best-known Norse heroes and notorious as the scourge of France and England. It portrays Ragnar as a Viking farmer who pioneers the first daring raids into England with the support of fellow warriors, his brother and his wife, the shieldmaiden Lagertha. The series has received generally favorable reviews.
It's important to promote the good stuff or else the shit will rise to the surface (reality shows, Honey Boo Boo, etc).

HC is on to something here in my opinion. Historical events, realistically portrayed, are much more interesting and amazing than most of the completely fabricated TV shows and movies anyone puts out. They could literally produce hundreds of high budget quality shows/movies about real events and have almost unlimited content.. most of the writing is done for them.

I wish they would've made a scripted show based on "The Men Who Built America." That I would've watched.

I'll check it out, but History Channel shows are so horrific. I couldn't take more than 5 minutes of their Bible miniseries because of the ridiculous inaccuracies. I knew there was a problem when about 2 minutes in, a large African Samson appeared with an Ethiopian mother.

Nice, there hasn't been nearly enough about vikings in TV and films even though it is a very interesting story.

I watched it for a bit one day. I said I don't remember it happening like this in the Bible. I thought I was crazy for a second.

They skipped over major definitive moments(such as the selection of David), had huge scriptural inaccuracies, the dynamic between Saul and Samuel was completely wrong, a major battle was portrayed as Saul attacking literally 4 tents, and by the time Samson showed up as a huge African with dreds, I shut that piece of shit off.

Shame on me for thinking History Channel could actually produce quality.

HC has some big losers and a few winners. Luckily they haven't become as disgustingly fucked up as TLC or Discovery though. I'm definitely not saying HC is the go-to place for accurate history.. but it's got some documentaries that are Ok. Some of it's documentaries are laughable.

This viking show is pretty accurate in many regards but wont' be 100% accurate of course. I've learned it's a co-production between a few companies and is also airing on HBO-Nordic.

Either way it should be entertaining. How could you not like Vikings?

Vikings is awesome!!!

The scenery, the sets, and even the characters are all really cool so far. Watched both episodes. Really digging this and wish it was a real series and would have seasons instead of a mini series :(

Love the song in the opening credits too

Not that I don't understand and even share you frustration, affirmative action requires that they include token minorities even if they're completely irrelevant and in no way related to the actual events that took place. Blacks have so little of their own history that they have to rewrite it and leech off ours. As was already said it's actually kind of funny how far they go out of their way, and it's so obvious when they do. Like the token blonde girl with a nigger on most TV shows and movies these days. It's completely delusional.

That song was in an episode of The Walking Dead but I'm not sure if it was the same singer.

After numerous translations, how accurate do you really believe the bible to be?

How many episodes are scheduled? Is it just the 3?

There will be 9 episodes this season. They'll prob wrap up Ragnar in this season and if they have future ones it will be a different Viking they focus on.

There are now 3 episodes available.
