NEWS: Death of YPN arbitrage? Smart Pricing Launched

Smart pricing has been in google for quite some time and yet arbi still worked. So why will this be any different.

Yep, smart pricing is not what kills arbi campaigns... it's the human editors that decide you are not providing a "good user experience".

Also turns out that, for certain keywords, it has been in effect since May anyway.

I haven't noticed any difference but we'll see what happens. As barman said, evolve or die :D

I was able to squeeze over $35k out of YPN doing arbi... I spent about $5k in PPC to do it. Not a bad return at all. Ahh the good ol' days.

Yes Adwords.

It wasn't intentional Arb, and my site definitely isnt an arb site. I dont even show ads until 2 pages deep.

I was basically just supplementing some additional traffic via PPC and noticed that my earning started to jump. YPN was paying rediculous RPC, so I just fed the machine and rode the wave.

On the flip side I don't feel so scared to use the yahoo content network to display ads now.

I was worried about this when they announced it, but the changes haven't hit me yet. Maybe the traffic quality I'm sending from YSM/MSN/AdWords is good enough that it's not kicking in for me, or maybe it's not active yet.

Has anyone HAD a problem with this yet?

kudos to those of you who figured out niches to get really relevant ads on ypn!

it's really pretty easy if you're doing pure arbitrage, putting up a page designed only to target the ads, rather than running YPN on a real content site with varied language. I run a good content site and YPN completely blows there because my pages aren't stuffed full of keywords relevant to the products they oughtta advertise. But my arbi pages have auto-generated text with Mad-Libs style insertion of about a dozen good keywords, and the targeting works fine.
