eMarketer.com - More Women Online

eMarketer estimates that there will be an estimated 97.2 million female Internet users ages 3 and older in 2007, or 51.7% of the total online population. In 2011, 109.7 million US females will go online, amounting to 51.9% of the total online population.

Read the article for eye candy charts and graphs.

So remember this information. Your next sites needs to be girly and wife approved. LOL :)

I know tons more girls that go online then guys, mostly because of myspace and msn and shit like that, to socialise without racking up the phone bill.

But I don't know any 3 year old's that are surfing the web :p

No surprise really, but neat info nonetheless. :)
The social part is one thing but let's not forget that women LOVE to shop. And the internet is constantly getting bigger, better, and cheaper than the ol' brick and mortar malls.

My wife jokes that the internet has given her shopping disease and she depends on shopping to live, lol :)

My son starting using the computer at 3. However, back then, he could only browse approved sites like disney for the flash games. Other than that, it was educational games.

I couldn't believe he could use the mouse so well at 3. Times have changed.

Maybe the chicks are not so much on the nerd forums because they are elsewhere shopping and socializing online? Perhaps finding a shopping forum would be the way to market to them? Hey, did I just stumble over a lesser known marketing niche?

3 years old? Shit I didn't start using computers until at least 11.

It's because of that Webkinz brand crap. Pretty soon they'll have repetitive stress injuries before they hit puberty.

But yeah, we women shop online. A lot. And every time a Jo-Anns or a Wal-Mart closes another regional media / art store, we have fewer options for buying specialty items offline.

Globalization: a good thing for e-commerce, a bad thing for consumer choice in brick and mortar stores.
The world's a fucked up place. Eh. :rasta:
