Nine to Fivers really piss me of sometimes.

Who cares what the "employees" think, man?
I have a 9-5, but it's one I can work from anywhere, as it's basically being a form of private investigator... I never bother telling people I do AM, as it gets too hard to explain to people that don't understand marketing in general (I tried to explain it to my mother once *facepalm*).
When people ask how it is I make my money from home (or the park, mall, CBD cafe, etc., because you should get out for a change of pace) I tell them I'm into "digital forensics" because they always go "huh?". I explain that I basically get paid to googlestalk people by a variety of P.I.s around town, then they either get paranoid, or require the really dumbed down (and incorrect) explanation of "I'm a hacker... now I own your bank account, puny mortal".

That my friend, is a myth. An employer can make you 'redundant' anytime he wants, and theres nothing you can do about it. Working for an employer is the most unsecure thing you can do.
Only if you live in an "At Will" state... I know how good I've got it, having unfair dismissal laws down under as well as decent welfare. Never had to use them, but it's a nice psychological advantage.

AM isn't a job. It's a sheltered, living in your moms basement lifestyle!
Girlfriend's Living Room thank you muchly :D

I walked down the street and knocked on their door (all 5'7'' of me) and could see them looking out the window but they wouldn't answer the door.
If you actually value your relationship with these people, perhaps type up a polite letter and just put it in their mailbox, explaining that it's a misunderstanding, and that you're an I.T. guru and what you do is too difficult for them to understand due to the technical nature of it, and that your job cuts down on the number of Indian telemarketers that they have to deal with at 7:30 every evening...
The last part should win back the friendship.

Hahahaha...

You don't even know what I do 9-5 .. (or 7:30 to 16:30)

As well as I would not overgeneralize with AMers or other self- employed (the are ALLL soooooo cool)

I would shy away from generalizing with 9-5ers.

::emp::

Well, for me, AM is a new field, but I am serious about it. I will invest time and money to achieve the goal. Everyone is different, some of them enjoy 9 - 5 more, some of them enjoy the freedom to set their own clock, but it's really up to you! But keep your goal in mind, have time, have money and also have dream! Good luck guys!
