No More Homework in France!

I'm sure this has been done on another thread, but let's hear a good reason from you.
  1. To perpetuate the species?
  2. To (selfishly) create a form of immortality for myself by leaving a spawn here after I die?
  3. To give something of myself to the planet that is unique?
  4. So that I can satisfy some primal urge?

I have yet to hear of a compelling reason to create offspring. I have heard that if you have offspring you tend to care deeply for them, and because of my shitty upbringing and who I married, I'm now the kind of person who has very high standards about how well I take care of those I care deeply for...

So the amount of work I'd have to give myself to properly take care of my offspring would far surpass most any other parent's work doing so in history... And I still don't see any reason to do it in the first place.

Most importantly though, even if I did have a kid and do the best job parenting that history has ever witnessed; Would I really want to leave them in this shitty world at this time in history? Seems like a pretty horrible thing to do to someone you love...

You know with that sort of negative, cynical view of the world, it's unlikely you would be a positive influence to your offspring and they may well develop a similar outlook on life and focus on what's wrong instead of what's right with the world.

Life's a gift and if you want to share it you do so. If you don't enjoy life and think it's not worth living or sharing, or think you are not capable of being a good parent, then you don't procreate which is probably for the benefit of mankind.

To answer your question why have kids, it's to share the gift of life and allow another being to experience it.
