nobody cares about hockey?

what the hell is your problem. Your country won gold yet you still look for reasons to bitch because people say hockey isn't the most popular sport in america. You are like that kid who always wanted to be good at something and finally you got good and beat every kid in class to win first place but nobody cared because the game you beat everyone at was Chinese checkers or something nobody cares about.

God you canadians are pathetic with your gloating. Some americans might give a shit for a couple days or weeks but after that nobody cares anymore. Its the winter olympics and hockey for fuck sakes its not like you won the world cup or something.

Yet another one who completely fails at reading comprehension. No where did I claim hockey is the most popular sport in America. In fact I already agreed several times that it is well in 4th place behind the other major leagues in popularity.

All along I've said the numbers simply point out that it's incredibly self centered to think that, just because you and your friends don't like something, it doesn't mean it isn't still hugely popular.

LOL - You've obviously never been to the United States have you?

Hockey has over 1200 games per season, which brings the average per game attendance down to around 16,000. Whereas the NFL has 256 games and the average attendance is around 70,000. So if you were comparing actual popularity, you'd have to stretch the NFL attendance out to 1200 games like hockey has. Then you'd realize that the NFL annihilates hockey in every way imaginable here in the U.S.

So don't come in here w/ your lame statistics. I live here, and know what we watch.

Fucking hell, how many times does it have to be said before you get it through your thick as fuck ignorant heads... football stadiums seat up to over 5 TIMES AS MANY PEOPLE and if compared to the NBA, for example, the NHL is a lot closer to numbers of games and seating capacity and is on PAR in attendance numbers.

And, ONCE AGAIN, these numbers WEREN'T meant to illustrate hockey's superiority over NFL football in popularity, but simply to show it has a rather large following. One that can't be written off just because you and your friends don't like it.

Reading comprehension, figure it the fuck out. These are very simple concepts to grasp unless you are just being purposely obtuse.

Oh, and I used to own a house in the US and unless you are particularly well traveled, have probably seen more of the US than you have.

So whats with all your bitching? Its like your coming in here and trying to force shit on people like canada just won the most important game in history. Then when people tell you its not such a big deal that it was to be expected because hockey isn't as big here you throw a fit like this win should be some big deal to us.

And thats why your mad because it isn't such a big deal to us. Just because you canadians think its the greatest thing since maple syrup doesn't mean we should care about it. And I think i know why canadians are so pissed. We kicked your asses in the first game and then you guys come back and win and now your trying to rub it in our faces but we don't give a fuck. HAHA

I must say, that even though I don't normally watch hockey, this game was fun to watch. And Canada definitely needed that win. They'd have never lived it down if they had lost.

Yeah right. I've been in very state - (but Alaska and hope to go there soon). But I highly doubt that you've set foot here. Otherwise you'd know better than to try and force your "hockey is uber popular in the U.S." argument.

While it is gaining steam, we'll put it into perspective. According to neilesn, over 50 times more people watched the SuperBowl than watched the Stanley Cup.

However, I'm willing to bet that it gains faster popularity, if for nothing else but to shut bitches like you up. lol

Woulda been more fun if they were amateurs. I was happier about the men's 4 man bobsled and Nordick combined than I would have been about the US winning a hockey game.

Stop gloating that you enjoy watching a bunch of homos parading in leotards and call that a sport

"According to a Wall Street Journal study of four recent broadcasts, and similar estimates by researchers, the average amount of time the ball is in play on the field during an NFL game is about 11 minutes."

Actually, if you read my other comments regarding the game I've been completely modest and already said it was incredibly close, and that it was a great game, and that the Americans played really well. I dished out equal condemnation to the shit talking Canadians as I did the the Americans. We squeaked that one out by the skin of our teeth.

I've not been rubbing anything in anyone's face nor forcing anything on anyone.

If you take pause for a minute to absorb what I've been saying (I think you nearly had it there... focus), you'll notice that I haven't even been talking about the Olympic game at all here. Seriously, go back and reread what has been said if you can't understand that.

I simply can't stand people that literally lie about shit and try to claim that something is unpopular to pass it off as being insignificant. It's a terribly old and immature tactic that originates back on the playground with the kid that said "la la la la la, I can't hear you, la la la la la..." when they didn't agree with the hide and go seek rules.

Don't be that kid.

However, it begs the question why you're even in here talking about it if you don't care?

When you can't win an argument on fact, resort to exaggeration...

1.5 billion people watched the Superbowl game in the United States did they?

Comparing NFL attendance and NHL attendance hardly seems fair considering the big disparity in stadium size.

Does anybody have NHL vs. NBA per game attendance stats?

Idk, I would watch hockey. But, I'd probably watch those female curling teams from other countries all day long.

Edit: Also, football requires a fuck ton of strategy, which is why it's so exciting to watch. Soccer and Hockey are nearly identical if you were to take out the behind the net stuff and powerplays. It's almost the same game. Except on ice.

Hardly - According to nielsen - around 4 million people watched the 1st game of the stanley cup.

So my numbers are off a little, but not by much. Believe me, you're not going to convince someone from the U.S. that hockey is any more popular here than it actually is. It may be the only thing that you have there, but when the Little-League World series is just about as popular as the Stanley Cup is here, then you have a huge battle with your popularity argument.

It may have been a huge win for you there, and I'm happy for you. But it just wasn't that big of a loss here for us.

It's like losing a shit throwing contest to the monkeys at the zoo. Good for you, you won the game. But the game is still shit.

You're doing it again.

People down there always end up talking about health care. You might be better served if you talked about education instead.

Ok, I'll give you that one. I did piss in your stanley cup, so I guess that could be mistaken for Canadian healthcare talk.

Fatbat - Don't bother... i think we have a case of the AMERICAAAA FUCKKK YAHHH!!

You know why this started, and i can guarfuckentee it because of the one little thread where all the yanks jumped in and started thumping their chests about beating us at our own game. Congrats, you beat us. In the prelimnaries. But WAIT, THERES MORE! Little did you know, we could face off again in the finals. And we did. Ah, Revenge is soo sweet. If you dish it out, man the fuck up and get prepared to take it back. Don't get all "butt hurt" bout it. If Canada won the first time around, there would be no "US sucks thread" just a Good Game thread. That's what it is to be Canadian.

Anyways, different strokes for different folks. Cya in 4 years.

Our Canadian brethren are always welcome to come visit any of the US cities to view the Stanley Cup since that fucker is property of the US now and might never see Canadian soil again - haha. I couldn't imagine the Lombardi Trophy being held captive in Edmonton or some shit.

Visit the states where there's not a lot of professional teams and you'll find a shit ton of people that don't give a fuck about hockey or football.
