Other than reading through countless threads on this forum, where would one with absolutely no knowledge of SEO and making money as an affiliate start to learn?

I gotta fill up some voided time somehow :anon.sml:
 


search google for 'learning seo' 'how to seo' and that kind of thing.. I _guarantee_ you'll find something.
 
how much is there really to learn....

1) make a website
2) find ways to get as many other websties to link back to yours as possible using anchor text corresponding to what you want to rank for in the search engines

wow, so complicated.
 
Reading through the threads on this forum is probably one of the best places to gain your SEO knowledge. The fact of the matter is that it's going to take TIME. You already said you gotta fill up some voided time so get crackin :).

Also, don't be afraid to throw up new sites and test things. You will gain most of your knowledge through experimentation and finding out what really works.
 
It's all about inbound links.

This "guide" is old and some of it can be disputed but it's a decent starting point - SEOmoz | Google Search Engine Ranking Factors

Also, sign up for www.google.com/webmasters/tools/ because it will tell you -
pages that google couldn't find or recieved an error on
what terms you rank for
what terms you rank for that actually get clicks
what pages have title tag problems
what pages have meta description problems
how many pages are in your sitemap and how many are in google's index
a whole bunch more
 
Wil Reynolds of SEER Interactive made a good SEO presentation at Affiliate Summit, that would be a great place to start for someone new to SEO. The slides can be found at My Affiliate Summit Presentation Slides , and Wil's Delicious feed can be found at wilreynolds's Bookmarks on Delicious , which has some good articles and tools listed. There's also a treasure trove of SEO information right here at WickedFire. Not sure why anyone hasn't mentioned that yet, but believe it or not WickedFire works...
 
I'm a noob, and these kind of questions piss even me off. WTF! Do you really have no idea where to start? What, you can't google some info? Go find some other offline way to make money. If you don't know how to use the internet for a simple search, how do you expect to capitalize on it's more advanced uses.
Just don't understand. sorry.
