noob torrent question

just tryin out this torrent stuff....tried to download a file from torrent spy then open it in azureus..anyway takes long time to open these things...anyway it says i downloaded 50 mb and uploaded 11 mb.....that mean 11mb of stuff been taken off my hard drive?

in P2P what on my hard drive is open? i thought it was only stuff open in azureus?

Yes only files that your sharing in torrents are uploaded unless your using Limewire which now does torrents as weel.

Here's a tip use utorrent it's small and fast torrent client the site is utorrent.com

Yes you have uploaded 11mb of the 50mb you have downloaded

thx for answer...wow torrentspy is full of junk...

hackers and scammers...and affliate marketers....

all i did is click on a adult file to see info on it, i think maybe i clicked on a link that said click here to see screen shots, next thing i know.....POP POP POP, windows has encountered a problem and has to close...looked up in address bar and saw affliate ad clicker url in there..a few redirects later browser shut down....some script made an impression on a clicker!

wonder if they made me click on google ad or something remotely.... heard the ad click thats for sure...

then i just tried to download (took way too long) some random file to see how all this torrent stuff works and the file would not play and an attached text file said i needed a special codec and i could get it by going "here" ya right i aint that stupid!

so u can download "torrent" files from all over and then u need special program to read them? i think people have told me the names of at least 4 different "torrent" file readers now...the one i installed is azurus

this sure seems like dumb way to get porn... better to pay $4.99 and get all u want fast without all the spam and non-sense...

so places like torrentspy host torrents you can download, programs like azureus let you actually open the files you downloaded, and then u need programs like WIRRAR to make you own torrents? i got that right?

whats wierd is if i downloaded the torrent from torrentspy, why did azureus take like 30 minutes to download it as well? it was not really downloaded? kinda confused about that

Yes it's basically a torrent search engine which is paid by all those ads and popups.

The .torrent file is just the index file if you like it tells your bittorrent client Azureus how many parts the size of the files and what trackers to use.

A tracker is a site like mini-nova.org which host the .torrent file and keeps track of the leechers(Downloaders) and seeders (Uploaders)
