I hear there is a bigger thing planned tonight. Scary Scary shit.

All the racism that was going on during the Civil Rights Movement has just developed into this. States making it legal to blatantly discriminate solely on the color of someones skin. Cops are still beating the shit out of blacks and the victims are the last ones to receive any form of justice. What has really changed in America??

Do you have any background info on what actually happened or are you just spouting off some canned response to anything that involves a white police officer and a minority suspect?
In my limited dealings with police when I was doing something I wasnt supposed to do I learned a few things that people like Oscar Grant dont seem to understand: don't be a shithead, don't resist arrest (especially after being involved in a fight)...you will never be in a better place because of it. When I was in highschool i tried to pull a stunt and look like a hot shot in front of some people when the cops were breaking up a party and rounding a few people up who were getting too rowdy. Guess what happened? Surprise, sur-motherfuckin-prise, I got roughed up a bit before getting the cuffs thrown on me.
If Grant hadn't been resisting arrest and the crowd of scumbag thugs hadnt been harassing/assaulting the officers who were responding to the incident Oscar would still be alive today with just another mark on his record rather than in a wooden box. Sad, but true.

We have a black President now, so maybe things have changed a bit? Dunno.

Holy shit. Do YOU have any background info on what actually happened?

He was lying face down and not moving at all when he was shot in the back. Go watch the video.

Exactly.

I am the last one to constantly throw out the race card, but during Obama's presidency I feel a lot of shit the right wing and republicans are doing could be based on they don't want a black man to lead this nation in the RIGHT direction. Politics could be debated forever but just take a look at all those town hall meetings before the health care reform was about to pass through. Look in the eyes of those old white folks raising their canes and standing on chairs and shit. Could you honestly say their was no pure haterd coming from them? Why? Because many of them were raised in a time of white supremacy (still exists today) and were in disbelief that a black man was trying to fuck with their comfortable living situation.

Black men growing up in America are immediately at a disadvantage because the way our society is. But I digress....that is a whole another topic that i'm not going to get into.

^^^ Can I go ahead and nominate cocoa for the next round of bans? This is pathetic. Black people are at a disadvantage? It's because black youths are taught that, that black people put themselves in bondage to "I'm disadvantaged" so why bother.

I cant stand that kind of retoric. I live in the South. According to the news media, since I am white and live in the south, I am by definition a racist. Here's the dirty little secret... I havent heard the "N" word or any other racist remark in 15 years or so. We just dont act like that. The only time I hear the N word is when black people use it. The only time I see or hear racist language, it is black people hating on whitie.

I dont get it, dude. You would think the south was still in a race war, but down here we do not look down on people who are black. In fact, the color of a persons skin is not even an after thought.

The only reason people are at a disadvantage is because they put themselves in a disadvantage. I have never had the power to hold a black person down, or deprive them of their rights. How do I have the advanage?

Please go away.

I also live in the South, am white and spend my time around both white and black groups of people (though, rarely ever mixed company). I hear racist language, see race-based decisions being made and white people stereotype black people all the time.

I heard the word "nigger" four times yesterday. Lol.

I don't know what area you're in exactly, but I'm in a medium-sized city in North Carolina and it's common, just not open.

Tell that to all the first generation Americans who have come here with nothing but a hard work ethic, a dream and gone on to achieve great things. You're only disadvantaged if you think you are.

I'm tired of racist bullshit: Black people whine and get all uppity because they think they're entitled, since white men treated them like shit for so many years (most of them only know this because their parents/grandparents told them so).

Native Indians think whites and blacks are scum because white men stole their land "generations" ago, and black people don't belong here.

East Indians think that everyone but them are dirty scum because some Russians f'd them over and now our troops "interfere" with their way of life.

Almost anyone from a foreign land thinks North Americans are scum, because we're apparently spoiled and have no work ethic.

People who bitch about racism really need to do a self-exam on their own thought process.

And I didn't even touch on your politics. The "RIGHT" direction? Please. Neither the Democrats or the Republicans have things right. Only thing they have right is how to fuel their own agendas and manipulate the public into keeping them elected and in power.

What you don't hear, because you're white, is all of the racist, anti-white bashing that takes place among blacks. There is far more anti-white racism and rhetoric in the black community than in white communities. Of course thats just my humble opinion. I spend a lot of time in black areas of town and I'm in a position many times to hear things that people don't know I can hear.

Think 90% black support for Obama is only because they actually agree with his policies? Sure.
