Obama betrays America yet again by signing the 'Monsanto Protection Act' into law

Now Obama has signed the "Monsanto Protection Act" into law, stabbing America in the heart yet again and proving that no matter how convincing politicians appear on the campaign trail, they are still sociopathic liars in the end.

The Monsanto Protection Act, part of the HR 933 continuing resolution, allows Monsanto to override U.S. federal courts on the issue of planting experimental genetically engineered crops all across the country. Even if those experimental crops are found to be extremely dangerous or to cause a runaway crop plague, the U.S. government now has no judicial power to stop them from being planted and harvested.

The article is a little alarmist, in that the actual language of the law is lighter than the heavy handed interpretation taken liberally by the journalist. Nevertheless I give it 15 years before gardening and eating the fruit of your own labor is made illegal.

Yeah like Fast Food chains are using 100% natural food products, fat is killing more people than this shit ever will.

You know the government has gone full corrupt when new laws are litterally named after the companies they are out to provide unfair advantages to.

They don't even bother to hide it in some innocent sounding law like:

The Improvement of America's Agriculture Act

or

Food Security for Children of America Act

Seriously, they are caring less and less about their image. That is dangerous. Eventually, the only thing keeping them in power will be force; no more popular consensus. When they no longer need to show false appearances to maintain power, they will be just like any other totalitarian state.

You know it's not ACTUALLY called 'Monsanto Protection Act' right? :stonedsmilie:

This guy might actually be trying to pull off some population control. Contamination could iradicate crops or poision the population and then they'll just say "woops" scientific error.

Too bad these scumbags get to make more money and use it to pull even more shit elsewhere in the world

Actually that is what they did. They slipped it in the resolution that was supposedly needed to prevent the government from shutting down.

As usual, many people are focusing only on Obama, but this passed congress first, and republicans still have a majority in the house.

Hello friends,

Politician will always help rich because they to are rich and have lot rich friend and family.

When politician say want help poor it only because they want poor to help them gain power.

Good luck bro

Hardly fixed. And if it's possible, for a solitary thread, to not equate the two parties as the same thing. Because talking about a rotten apple doesn't necessarily explain away a rotten orange.

"Journalism is printing what someone else does not want printed: everything else is public relations."
-George Orwell

95% of self-identified journalists are members of the Democratic party. To even casual observers, this should be self-evident.

And when an issue, like this one that directly effects millions of people's lives, is ignored because of the alignment of party affiliations, then the media has failed to do its job. There will be zero public soul searching on this.

Now, back to gay marriage and jaded libertarian stances. (Or just gay stances!)
