Free speech ends when it incites harm or death to someone or some group. Though in the poll case its not "Kill Him", but rather questioning participants opinions. (though such results could be argued as inciting violence)
Yeah saying your are going to assassinate the president isn't covered by the first amendment. If it was do you hate Obama etc it would be perfectly fine to post since it is protected.
