I dunno if you guys have been paying attention to this Snowe Bill, but I haven't spotted anything about it on the forums yet (there is a mention about her from '06 though)
I'm not even a U.S. citizen and this bill basically makes me wonder if I should even bother registering a few of the domains I was thinking of, or if I should pathetically wuss out and get the .au variants instead.
I've been reading about it on a few other DN forums lately, read extracts of the bill, etc.
The long and short of it is that it's meant to prevent people from squatting, domain-kiting and recycle tasting, and using those sites to infringe on copyrights or run phishing sites.
But considering that the people that do that are generally not U.S. Citizens, in the U.S., or even in countries that have extradition treaties with the U.S., it basically sounds like big business using a bogeyman to scare Congress into running things the way it wants...
Which basically means an end to small to medium time domain speculation as a way of earning money.
