On Protecting Kids

A lot of those same parents that make their kids wear helmets also hit their kids which of course damages their brains.

Err... how do you jump from making kids wear helmets == hitting their kids?

Well I wasn't trying to say that all people who make their kids wear helmets also hit their kids. I was just pointing out that many parents who make their kids wear helmets do happen to hit their kids, and how silly that is.

Yesterday at the farm store I was looking at chop saws when the "tool" guy comes over and asks what kind of saw am I replacing. I say none, my son wants one for his birthday. His eyes bug out a bit and he says "how old is he" I say he'll be 23, he wants it for building cars. he says "building cars?" I say yes, he's already built his race car and a big ass off road Cherokee and wants to build a rat rod. He says "That's a man there". Commence the warm fuzzy proud parent feels. He never looked anything like that wuss in the mag growing up.

One piece of advice I would give you if you're going to have kids.. If your kid asks for help, don't "help" him/her by doing it, ask them how they think it should be done, offer other options that may be better, let them decide and guide them while maintaining safety.

Have you ever wondered if buying beer at a gas station causes kids to die?

According to this video, it does!

I for one live with survivor guilt, having lived in states where alcohol sales are privatized already..

One minute you're watching sponge bob with your BFF. Next minute he's on the floor, not breathing, dead.

All because someone bought a 6 pack of zimas from the shell station a few blocks over.
