That is some troll science. Don't you know anything about the law of conservation of energy?

Haha - I just read that article and pissed myself laughing. Hats off to that windup merchant!

I'll tell you what is mad shit though - Ferrofluids:

BUUUUUUUUUMP

This is one I'd love to do but I just don't have the time. Opportunity cost and I'm sticking to mobile apps.

Tinder Hot or Not
1) Scrape all Tinder profiles across the world. I actually have the PHP scripts already coded which I was using for, ehh, personal reasons.
2) Watermark each scraped photo with your URL
3) Emulate the old hot or not. Rate girls (and guys I suppose) from 1-10. Have top listings.
4) They can rate internationally or in their local area.
5) Run dating offers to 'connect' to the girls. Profit? Or just run regular advertising.

Anyway, I don't have the time. Please pick holes in the idea, I want to hear why it won't work.

Had this idea I had a few months ago.. A banner creation service with banner templates (and ability to start fresh) for IMers.. No need to pay designers for banner sets, just join this service, choose from 100's of templates, customize quickly (updates are made to multiple banners at once, for quick / easy editing), save and download your banner set. Would require a lot of JS and html5 canvas work; which is why I'd need a damn good coder to partner with :/ If anyone's interested, I have the view beneath in html/css.

I'd still love for this to become reality

Pointing out the one large hole in it - legal.

YOu don't have a right to use those pictures. If people agree to use them in tinder, they only agree on using them in tinder.

Their TOS might make it possible to buy those pictures from tinder, tho, I don't know.

You pretty much described one of my sites, only I don't steal images, people upload their own. I've got around 20k members/profiles. I think an app version of the site could do well, since I already have a memberbase plus thousands of daily visitors. It could be similar to hot or not or tinder. Perhaps an app developer could get in touch? ;)

Also that payday loan kiosk idea is pretty sick. Is anyone currently doing that? I know someone that does something similar, but with those coin-based candy machines. He puts them all over the place. lol

You can call it FaceMash.

When Zuck was scraping the photos how much actual legal trouble did he get into - that would be an interesting thing to research. I doubt people can get away with it now-a-days, but it's funny the shit you can get away with in the early days of a new 'era' (hint: we're always in some sort of new era).

He has a photoshop version of this already created. You input one image and it recreates it until the various sizes, I beta tested it. Not a web based version though.

Hotornot.com got sold for WAY under what the ashleymadison guys paid for it = fail
Your dating site based on music is done: tastebuds.fm, no one's heard of it = fail

That banner creation thing looks legit, I'd use it. Adwords has something like that now, where if you make 1 banner, it turns it into a bunch of other ones but the downside is that all banners get the same tracking URL, which is stupid.

This would be so easy with all the new frontend technologies of the last few years (SASS, etc).

Get at me.

Here's a shitty TrafficLeaks-esque idea. I've actually done this, but was a retard and didn't capture emails.

1) Create multiple craigslist accounts in different cities.
2) Create ads in the "free" section giving away massive stacks of coupons (You can find images on google to use).
3) People lose their shit and start messaging you droves
4) Create an email Auto Responder that replies to inquiries with something along the lines of, "Hey, thanks for your interest, but unfortunately, someone else already claimed the free coupons. However, if you'd like to know the site that my Wife prints them off pf, let me know."
5) If they reply (90% say YES), have the Auto Responder send out another message, "For sure! Anyway, here's the link if you're interested: [Your Email Capture Page]"
6) Send them to your landing page and collect their email (or make them do a survey first).
7) Have fun sending them offer after offer.

On a small scale, this idea doesn't generate too much profit. But if you automate it, you can grow a huge list of coupon faggots and milk them.

On some BHW shit.

oh ya, definitely. but this would be a fly by night affiliate operation, the wickedfire way. who cares about legal, could be good for marketing. send to people who are top on site and get them engraged. then send to blogs with angle 'new perve site scrapes tinder profiles for pics'.

intredasting. how you monetising at the moment? this is why i'm not doing this
idea, i'm out of the website/ads/affilaite offers money game. charging for mobile apps is a lot easier.

yeah, but this isn't a 'startup', it would be a fly-by-night operation, just get enough eyeyballs to make money on ads and offers. no way would any buyer go near it with the aforementioned legal situation regarding the source of pics.

most of the revenue is from adsense. hiring a developer is expensive and i dont have enough faith in it to believe it will take off and give me a return. I could be wrong, i haven't actually looked into finding out how much building an app would cost me...

anyone aware on gurugossip?

it's a forum where women bitch, gossip and bully online beauty and makeup gurus. some of the posts are vicious, i'm glad i was born a male. anway, i disgress. basically it must have been run by retards as they let their main domain slip and i grabbed it in godaddy auctions:
http://gurugossip.net/

they've a new forum somewhere but it doesn't rank in google at all. all the backlinks are to the domain i own. i tried to setup a new beauty forum but i just don't have the time. anyone want to take over the domain and get a new forum going? i've no idea how valuable that kind of women traffic is but i'm sure it's worth something. the volume of posts there was big.

It is some of the most valuable, if not the most valuable traffic out there. The only problem you might run into is an ad network not being comfortable with the language being used in those vicious posts.

You should really take the time to build it out.

Figure out a way to automate the laundry process relatively inexpensively and you'll be a gazillionaire.

About 15 years ago I thought of a washer dryer combo. You put your clothes in, hit start and it washes, rinses and drys them all in one machine. I've seen a few hit the shelves but they're marketed as "space saving machines" for small lofts or whatever that don't have the room for 2 machines.

If you could somehow get the machine to fold the laundry you'd be golden.

I expected a 5% royalty if you make this happen.

shit brah, and i was going to post that in the thread last week but i didn't think it was appropriate seeing as it's already done! but it's too clever not to post.

(this is not my idea, but it's an interesting one to explore)

The Double Index Fund - When the New York Stock Exchange closes everyday at 5:00 P.M., the opening bells for the ASX (Australian stock exchange) are only hours from ringing. Take advantage of this by investing money in the TDIF. With the double index fund, your money never sleeps. During the day, your money will be invested in an index fund that follows the NYSE. At market close, this money will be transferred to Australia and invested in an ASX stock index. This way, investors will get twice as much bang for their buck, as 100% of investments fluctuates back and forth between the ASX and the NYSE daily. Investors will get more out of their money while not taking on additional risk. Index funds hold a portfolio of well diversified assets and are considered a relatively safe investment. With the Double Index Fund, investors are getting a 2-for-1 deal: money bounces back and forth between an index in the U.S. and an index in Australia. Historically, index funds have outperformed most financial institutions in the long term. They average a 7% return per year, which will doubles an investment every 7 years. By investing in a double index fund, your money is capable of growing even faster - 7% gain in the U.S. Index + 7% gain in an A.S.X Index =14% return
