Opinion About MediaTrust - Are They Scammers

Being circa's Senior Public Relation Director I do not take kindly to these allegations.
You will be hearing from our lawyers.
OK, here is the insulting answer from Mediatrust:
"Hi Pablo,
My accounting team did get back to me and unfortunately there is nothing my accounting team can do on their end. However you can follow up with your own bank in regards to the cashed check. The reason my accounting team can’t do anything is this check has already been cashed it is no longer in their hands. If you have any other questions let me know. I apologized for any inconveniences you have experienced.

How do I know where the guy that stole the check cashed it???? The only ones that can know this are Mediatrust's Bank. So they should contact their Bank and start an investigation on this situation.

Please I need the help of the more experienced Affiliate Marketers here. And yes $2,500 is a lot of money here in Uruguay. Fortunately my main income stream is Adsense, and probably my only after this success with Affiliate Networks.

Nicky, I respect you as I always follow your post and the few things I know about Affiliate Marketing I learned them from your blog, but how would you call them?
They sent me a copy of the cashed check and the signature endorsing the check isn't mine and has nothing to do with my signature. It should be very easy for their Bank and for them to compare this signature with the signature of the 10 other checks I cashed before, and see it wasn't me that cashed this one.
When you cash a check you have to present ID and the name has to match exactly with the name stated in the check. I don't see how anyone can cash your check unless they have your ID. Next time, ask for a wire transfer, it's faster and easier.
Time for a lesson on how cashing cheques works.
You go to your bank with a cheque from another bank, for example with a cheque from MediaTrust. The teller AT YOUR BANK is supposed to make sure the person endorsing (signing) the cheque is you. Most banks in Canada and the USA have an electronic copy of the last 10 or so cheques you deposited that they can compare it to. I don't know if they do in Uraguay. Regardless, if the teller decides that the person signing the cheque is legitimate and that they don't think that person is a high-risk customer likely to have forged a cheque, cash a bad cheque, etc, then they will give him the cash.
Then, the cheque gets mailed to America, to Media Trust's bank, where ALL THEY LOOK AT is if there is enough money in the MediaTrust account to cover the cheque, if the MediaTrust signature is correct and if there have been any stops or holds put on the cheque. If it all comes back OK for them, then they take the money out of the account, send it to your bank in Uraguay and send them back the cheque.
MediaTrust is 100% correct when they say they can't do anything. THE ENTIRE PROBLEM LIES WITH WHATEVER BANK DEPOSITED THE CHEQUE. MediaTrust have no way of knowing what bank that is. MediaTrust's bank have no way of knowing that that's not your signature, because it's the bank of the depositor that is supposed to deal with that.
MediaTrust is a great company, my bank screwed up on a payment issue before (long story short the payment ended up in limbo for about a week, Geoff had paid it but my bank didn't like it so they didn't deposit it until I called up about it a couple times) and the whole time Geoff kept up communication and checked a number of times if it was anything on his end. I absolutely 100% trust MediaTrust.

There nothing can do for help you. MediaTrust no can hunt person that steal your money and arrest.
I no think should expect MediaTrust for pay you twice. How they know that you no have friend cash check and lie check got stole so can get money two times?

It is not insulting in anyway. This is not something an "experience Affiliate Marketers" can help you with. You should contact the police about someone stole your check and cashed it. The guy who stole your check shouldn't be able to get the cash instantly unless that is how banks do thing in Uruguay. It is not in your best interest to try and defame a company like MediaTrust for $2500. Many of us have done many times more than that amount with MediaTrust and never problem receiving payment. Ironically, this thread actually helped MediaTrust's reputation.

from what's in this thread, seems like someone duped you and you've no freakin idea who did it and your desperation leads you to blame mediatrust.
hopefully if you send them ALL your traffic they can compensate you somehow in future? however don't be surprised if they don't...

I just replied back to your email from earlier today. I have also looped in our CFO so he is 100% aware of the latest update with your account, but as its been pointed out already, this is clearly a criminal case of check fraud.
We're doing what we can right now to gather all the info for you and obviously one lesson learned here is not sending checks as a method of payment to you in Uruguay.
Thanks also to everyone in the WF community who chimed in on this thread, it really does mean a lot that you hold us in high regard and voiced it, and your advice to Pablo was also appreciated.

in the days of blatant network owner self promotion on here it's quite refreshing to see two other network owners (who don't routinely self promote and trash everyone else) stand up for Mediatrust.
