Organize your shit

Evernote has been a boon for my organization.

At first, I had a mental block about it. I used it to take notes, but not much else. Couldn't see the potential. One day, the veil was lifted and I realized what it could do. Now, my life is in Evernote.

I was blind, but now I see.
Turbo and I think eliquid were going on about Evernote 4 years ago on Skype, and I didn't get it.

I installed it two years ago, and only used it to catalog recipes I found online.

Now I use it all the time, it's a fantastic workflow tool. I feel like they could probably triple their paid subscribers if they helped people realize its power earlier.

I've downloaded Evernote a few times over the years, after hearing about how great it is.. and just not "getting it", I guess. Time to give it another go.

Excel & Notepad for me too.

I installed Evernote and just couldn't get on with it... Perhaps someone can explain a bit about how you use it to good effect?

For me Google keep works the best along with a pen and paper, for passwords there is nothing like Roboform.

I create hundreds of random txt files with names like "keywordstocheckTEMP" or "expdomains2" or "contentfordogtrainingNEW", save them in random folders to discover them months later wondering what the fuck they mean.

- Trello to keep track of what's done and what's still left to do,
- Notepad for all kinds of info dump
- A separate big Excel book for each new project
- Emailing general shit to myself with keywords that I later search my mailbox for when I feel I need to read something.

Finance - Outright.com (for business) + YNAB.com (for personal)

Notes/Bookmarks/Etc - Evernote of course

Passwords/logins - 1Password but may be slowly migrating to iCloud Keychain now that it's available

Also +1 for Daily Routines and Trello, 2 very different but really valuable apps/services. I use Trello to stay on the same page with my developers, works great.

Care to elaborate? I think I'm still blind...

Call me old fashioned, but I still stick to the write in a diary method. I have a diary that I carry with me everywhere I go. I am one of those people who carries a laptop with him all the time, so keeping a diary in their isn't much of a hassle for me.

Anything discussed with a client, those light-bulb moments, appointments and whatnots all go in there. I use those which have these page numbers beneath them.

And at the end of the day while packing up my work, I write a small gist of the day's entries in the first couple of pages which I use as an index. So if there is something that I wish to reference anytime - I only have to go through the first few pages.

I know this may sound unrealistic to a lot of you. But this is the only thing that keeps me organized. I believe in writing things down. It gives that touch of realism for us, who do everything online. Another thing I recommend are whiteboards.

I do use evernote, I have a pretty complex client management system as well for a few of my products, we are also experimenting with SimplaCRM and Adobe Business Catalysts CRM features for a few project. But still nothing beats the diary.

Rather than explaining my process - it would add very little value, since organization is so individualized and I'm not an EN power user (yet) - I'll point you to one of my favorite EN Ambassadors...

Going Paperless | Jamie Todd Rubin

He's a sci-fi writer, which is helpful when he explains his process; he is methodical to a fault. He is big on "going paperless," and provides a good summary of his current flow here...

Esquire, read through some of Jamie's stuff linked on this page. You're sure to get ideas to incorporate into your own setup. :)

Here are the four keys to salvation in the organization game.

https://www.nirvanahq.com/ (simplified GTD system. oh lord this is the key to heaven. it's a to do list, calendar, reference book, everything all in one. and it's super simple)

http://www.homeroutines.com/ (step up your exercise, diet, and sleep routine game with this nifty app. it's crucial to have a daily routine)

Personal Budget Software - Finance Software for Windows & Mac (record ALL your personal and business finances, and review what money goes where)

Alarmed App Details (reminds you what the fuck you needa be doing at the moment. for example, every hour it reminds me to focus on my to do list, and every 6 pm it reminds me to eat dinner because i often forget to eat)

use these four apps to your liking on your smart phone, and you will NEVER have to worry about organizing, planning, finances, budgeting, workflow, or dates ever again.

The organization/time management game is a tricky one, and I have it figured out, so I'm feeling nice and giving back to y'all since y'all give back to me.

Enjoy the inner peace of mind and clarity that most will never have the luxury to ever enjoy in their lifetimes.

Also, I've tested organization systems for years and underwent a severe bout of depression and anxiety to reach this point of organization master, so this I speak from experience, not from thine ass.

Glad to know I'm not the only one
