It really comes down to what you need to get done. If you don't have any obligations of course you'll sleep through them.

Recently after leaving a job, I was sleeping way too much like 18 hrs a day or some shit. Since I didn't really have shit to do. I'm talking about waking up at 6pm or even 7pm. Complete crazyness. As time progressed and I started getting back into the groove of things, I found myself naturally waking up earlier since I had obligiations and work that needed to be accomplished so I had shit in my mind to wake up to.

On the same note, after a while I noticed even if I would wake up early (to me 10am is fucking early) that after a few hours I would get all my shit done and then basically zone out the rest of the day or feel like taking a nap (which is not my style at all). So, I learned that it's not the amount of sleep I was doing or how early I was waking up. It was all based on shit that I felt in the back of my mind that had to be done and was important to me.

@airforcematt, man I thought I had heard of everything. That's pretty freakin out there.

How's your back pain doing, btw (You know just to derail the thread completely)?

Yeah I know it does seem a bit out there - but it works for me. Placebo effect? Possibly. Works well for me though.

As for my back pain it's all over the map - less overall pain since quitting physical therapy but still have pain bad enough to require Vicoden 2-3 times a week. They did an MRI a couple weeks back and found I have a couple slightly herniated discks. Going in this week for a cortizone shot right into the spine area where the damage is, heres hoping it gives me at least enough relief to get back into the gym, sick of being "that guy" that sits around while others work out.

You might look into something like this: Back Traction Table - HealthMark Back Extension Bench Traction Table Shop, Find and Buy at ComfortChannel.com.

I have a similar version of this that I bought about ten years ago. The best $300.00 I ever spent for my back pain. It's very easy to self adjust how much traction pressure is exerted on the back muscles.

Between this table and working out to build up the muscles around my fused discs I've been able to avoid surgery & Cortisone shots. (Without the table I was unable to lift due to the pain.)

I do have a friend that had compression fractures in several discs and one herniated disc that finally opted for surgery. They used some kind of sealant to mend the fractures and inserted some sort of spacer in the herniated disc. She says that she wishes she would have let them operate sooner instead of waiting 2 years trying shots and therapy. She is now pain free.

Sincerely,

MT

Anybody who has sleep issues will find if they just get their act together for ONE day and form a schedule or routine, it CAN stick.

e.g. force your lazy lard ass up at 6am, take a jog outside. Come back, eat a breakfast. Shower. Do your work. DO IT AGAIN the next morning.

The key is the exercise. Whatever you do, do it first thing in the morning, it will invigorate you for the entire day and make you feel good in general.

i may have found the solution. i usually keep my shades completely closed. but i kept them open last night and the light woke me up before the alarm did. it was so gradual too, not a sudden loud ass beeping.

Yeah, we covered all this in another thread where he was talking about his back pain. Which is totally my bad for derailing this thread to begin with. I just wanted an update on his situation and was to lazy to switch threads and go searching for it :-/

@airforcematt Yeah once you can get back to the gym for some moderate exercise, I think you'll see much more improvement.

Turbolap has it right..

Get one of these, albeit little smartasses they can be:

Here is a tactic I've used before. Make your alarm on your phone or w/e a REALLY annoying and loud song and then put it into a place that's hard to access, so that you know in the morning in your zombie-like state it's going to be really hard to get to.

It's annoying as fuck but after you finally turn it off you should be awake enough to decide not to go back to bed. Following this you'll be more tired on the night so you can go to sleep earlier and wake up earlier. Repeat process until you break out of the vicious circle.

OP just sounds like a lazy mother fucker -- not that there is anything wrong with that.
