I'm looking into a paid content site. Nothing fancy - I'll have a free area, then I'll have an area that you must log in to access, and a membership will be x per year. I figure people can register, paypal payment and have access to the paid section.

I found two wordpress plugins that might work perfectly:

Wordpress Subscription Management and Billing plugin
wp-Member.com Advanced Wordpress Membership Plugin

Does anyone have experience with either plugin, or do you have a different solution that gets the job done? Suma has a great demo and wp-member not so much.

if you're looking to go a different route, dot net nuke is a great CMS that offers subscriptions that you're looking for right out of the box. you can setup user groups, permissions, etc.. it's free and you can get skins and modules for it too.

For some clients I've setup WP with aMember and it seems to work just fine. There was a lot of customization to get things to look consistent. But I don't know if you need all of the features that come with aMember. Maybe you would do better to manually approve new WP logins after they pay with Paypal or Moneybookers. Then you can use free WP plugins like memberwing or hidepost, so you can separate "paid" content from everything else.
