Has anyone bought an HP Pavilion dv6-6xxx in the last six months?
I've been offered a deal on this one, reduced from 700€ to 600€.

  • INTEL CORE I5 2430M (2X 2.4GHZ)
  • GRAPHICS - AMD RADEON HD 6490M 1GB
  • RAM 8GB DDR3
  • DISCO DURO 1TB (5200 RPM)
  • MONITOR 15,6" (1366 x 768)
  • USB2.0 X4 (no USB3.0)
I'd like to know about battery-life and wi-fi strength.
And any problems experienced with hardware/drivers.

I like the design/port placements, and the ram and disk size means I don't need to spend money upgrading.

I'm a little reticent about the Radeon card, monitor resolution, and lack of USB3.0. Not really deal-breakers though.

My current laptop is a four year old Pavilion dv9000 (Duo 2ghz 3Gb Ram), and it's been ok; only just starting to go a bit flaky recently. The dv6 seems like a good enough upgrade for doing webdev, office work and home photo/video editing, but I just want to ensure I'm not buying a complete dud.

Cheers.

I haven't been keeping up with laptop technology vs price in a long time, but that looks like a pretty solid laptop for 600. Just be careful with the HP stuff. Some people say they are crap. I've had issues myself with some of their bigger laptops, especially the screens. Although my hp notebook has been solid for 3+ years now.

I'd say go for it if you can get a warranty on it.

I've had dv7 in the past and now I'm on a dv6. I think they've always been a pretty good deal for what you get. However, the battery life has never been very good on them. I'm lucky if I get 2 hours.

Still a solid deal, go for it.
