Pay first or last affiliate?

I'd say: THE LAST
Because his marketing was the one which actually triggered off the purchase:)
Eh I suppose so. But the first one may have been the person who introduced the brand into the mind of the user. The user frequently will the search for the brand name and whatnot after seeing an ad by the first guy. The sale is more or less assured in most cases, but that second aff picks up the commission? ehhh. Maybe. Tricky question.

In most cases this is presumed to be correct.

It's tricky and can be argued either way. One might say the 1st needs to convert better or make it easier to bookmark or save the site/location for later, and some might say the 2nd got lucky, even if they had the more convincing ad campaign.

Whatever you do, stick to ONE solution only, and let your affiliate know about it. That way they know you're not playing favorites and can work with the system instead of be 'pwned' by it. Also, let them voice their opinions on the topic. They're the ones bringing you the business, they should have the say.

first (for a set period). buying cycle is ridiculously long so gotta give the first cookie a little leeway.

My first thought was split it... But I know nothing about being on this side of the fence.

Last Click...

Our tracking technology pays the affiliate off the last click, for up to 30 day cookie duration. It just makes the most logical sense (the cookie stuffing issue was already mentioned for example). But of course the buyer may have been influenced by many previous factors prior to making their final buying decision off the last link, its the nature of the business.

Depends if theres a way to check what one actually sent the sale. I'd say last normally, but cooking stuffing kinda ruins it.

I can care less if someone hits the back button on my page and buys from my competitor. That's Life. I didn't do my job. But if they continue to fill out the offer and I don't get credited that's some shady shit.
