I've lost a ton of my sales on fiverr and my own websites because of this Paypal malfunction. They finally pulled the site online but the third party integration is still having problems and everyone of my businesses relies on those integration's to serve customers!

This was a good wake up call to not only diversify your businesses but customer payment processing too.

I'm guessing Paypal has it worse though. Probably a few people fired and the rest popping xanax and caffeine pills while they try to figure out the solution.

Fiverr can bring some decent money if used properly. Gig extras, upselling and outsourcing ftw - and your average order brings around $30-40 while all you do is put things together and send out reports.

Also - all players will change with time. Including fiverr, paypal, facebook and google.

Plenty of people actually make damn good bank on fiver.

I've seen gigs that take 5 minutes charge a range of $5-$100 with an avg order value of probably $20 and then he sends you to a $5-$50 tip page.

Then there's a major SEO guy who makes 1K rev daily on it selling at just the $5 price point.

and both of the above, if smart, are using it as lead-gen as well.

And then there's gigs like 'I'll sing you happy birthday' where after you've done it 50 times you've covered 95% of all customer names already.

And then there's "I'll install wordpress for you" and other bullshit so people can steal FTPs/cPanels and mail from their servers/do shady shit worth a lot more than $5.

The list goes on...
