Peasant Spotting

Bastard! Read through the link, then had to buy the book.

Looking forward to it though. Tired of reading Beverly Cleary to the kids. Maybe I'll read them this instead.

Only problem is, you have to be rich to think that way.

The one that says: "Average people let money stress them out. Rich people find peace of mind in wealth"--if you have money, it's comforting, if you don't, it's stressful

"Rich people know money can save your life." No shit, more money can buy better quality of health care?

"Average people live beyond their means. Rich people live below theirs." So Because I don't earn 250k a year, and am not yet a home owner, that must mean that I live beyond my means. I ride a relatively cheap motorcycle to save on gas, and haven't had a car payment in the last 3 years. I have 2 credit cards, that get paid off every month, and my stocks honestly aren't doing too bad right now. But I don't rock a Benz and a 5000 sqft apartment, so I must be doing something wrong.

"Average people teach their children how to survive. Rich people teach their kids to get rich." No, average people tell their kids money doesn't buy happiness, but it does buy a lot of things that can make your life easier. Rich people teach their kids that they never want to be poor.

The idea "think rich, get rich" is a fools dream. I had a friend that turned full blown hardcore right wing neo conservative--hated bush, now hates obama. Was a hard core lefty, then decided he wanted to be rich, and now says he is only a 'fiscal conservative'. In other words, he wants what mommy and daddy have been giving him his whole life, and believes that if he adopts that way of thinking, then he will be wealthy. Forget about the fact that he works for his parents, is a burnout pothead, and can't keep a real job that his parents don't give him for more than a week. Mommy bought him a rental property that he promptly ruined the equity by taking out a loan to start a "house flipping business". Spent it all partying and touring with his band, and blames the economy and obama for why mommy and step dad had to bail him out, again. Oh, BTW, mommy bought his wife's engagement ring, that she promptly lost when she found out he didn't pay for it.

But he'll be rich one day, so he might as well start thinking this way now.

The fake it till you feel it mentality is a bust, sorry.

This article is a perfect example of the disconnect between the financial classes in this country.

Strongly agree with these

Average people focus on saving. Rich people focus on earning.

Siebold theorizes that the wealthy focus on what they’ll gain by taking risks, rather than how to save what they have. ”The masses are so focused on clipping coupons and living frugally they miss major opportunities,” he writes. ”Even in the midst of a cash flow crisis, the rich reject the nickle and dime thinking of the masses. They are the masters of focusing their mental energy where it belongs: on the big money.”

Average people never make the connection between money and health. Rich people know money can save your life.

While the middle class squabbles over the virtues of Obamacare and their company’s health plan, the super wealthy are enrolled in a super elite “boutique medical care” association, Siebold says. ”They pay a substantial yearly membership fee that guarantees them 24-hour access to a private physician who only serves a small group of members,” he writes. ”Some wealthy neighborhoods have implemented this strategy and even require the physician to live in the neighborhood.”

Mike-Not really, I'm abstaining from voting this time around, because I choose not to vote for runny shit, or lumpy shit.

It just goes to show that it's easy to say money isn't everything when you have a shit load of it.

I used to be dirt fucking poor, I know what it is like to not have power in the house because the family has to eat--Now that I have made a little something for myself, it sickens me to hear this entitled attitude coming from people who had shit handed to them. Walk a mile in the other guys shoes, don't just criticize the fact that your shoes cost 3 times as much, so the other guy must not really want nice things.

I am now, what I would have considered in my youth, rich. I disagree with about 99% of that article, because it clearly comes form the stand point of someone who has had money their entire life, someone who just doesn't understand how the rest of the world works, because they like to stay inside their gated community, of like minded folks, who will always look down their noses at anyone who can't afford to live in the same neighborhood, because, if you're poor, you must not want any nicer of a life style than you have.

I'm not saying the world is against the poor, but the cruel hand of fate tends to have a softer touch when you can afford ways around it.

I really, really appreciate what you're saying but I disagree.

I grew up pretty poor. Not poverty but definitely not much extra laying around. I was not raised with a wealth mentality. I wan't taught about how to earn money. The article absolutely nailed it - I learned to save, not earn.

I went through a period of a couple years where I had to hack some deep engramatic programs I had running to realign my beliefs about wealth. Like to the point of repeating mantras and hanging messages on my office wall.

Holding the concept of wealth in my mind is comfortable and practical to me and that feels really really good. But it was not like this for many years. I had to create this part of myself largely by myself. I wasn't rich when I started changing my understanding of abundance and prosperity. I was curious and determined. And like anything else that makes all the difference.

Not true, I grew up poor as fuck but I never had ill feelings towards rich people. And, as much as it pains me to say it, it's one of the few good qualities my mother passed to me.

We see a Rolls drive by us in our shitbox and it wasn't "look at that fucking asshole, fuck him". Instead it was like "Wow, what do you think he does for a living Barry?"

I used to see rich people and immediately wonder what they do and how they do it. I still do to a certain extent but less fucks are given now than when I was a kid. I'm only interested if you're the type of rich that makes Dr. and lawyers look like peasants, otherwise I don't really give a shit.

It's mindset. I've always always always had some type of hustle going on. Before IM/SEO I was selling computers out of the cabinet shop I was working at. I found a way to order from Dell as if I was a major supplier, so I got the shit dirt cheap. That was the same time when LCDs first started getting popular and were crazy expensive. I'd get the PC, LCD, printer, and speakers for less than normal people could get the LCD for. Sold them bitches on ebay and in the newspaper classifieds.

Before that, grew weed and sold drugs.

Before that, stole shit and resold it.

Before that, setup a little stand on the golf course and sold sodas and hotdogs.

Before that, took lunch money and went to walmart. Bought a big bag of candy like Jolly Ranchers and sold them shits as singles in school for 20 cents or so each. By the time lunch rolled around I was eating like 50 of those shitty rectangle pizzas in boss mode.

Always gotta have some kind of hustle going on.

Point is, no matter what happens with IM, I'll get it one way or another. Or end up in prison, whatever. You wont find me sitting on my hands and bitching and boohooing about what everyone else has though, I can assure you that.

MINDSET SON. Get your shit together and stop acting like a big liberal fag.

EDIT: By the way, this shit was actually really good money and retarded easy work:
Before that, setup a little stand on the golf course and sold sodas and hotdogs.
Hell, if Cutts fucks me anymore I may just pack up shop and go sell fucking hotdogs on a golf course someplace.
