Perry Marshall's Adwords Guide - Worth it?

I read it and it was a good read (at the time I was a complete adwords idiot)

I didn't pay for it though, so hell yeah it was worth it.

I haven't seen it but Perry usually puts out some decent products, don't expect it to be a complete guide though I noticed he only likes to touch up on points here and there and he doesn't really get into the full aspects of things, but if your looking for some more Adwords Ideas depending on the price it's probably worth it.

Of course you could always wait and get it for free.

I guarantee there is nothing in it that you cannot find for free on forums.
...if you're willing to wade through the huge amount of noise.

Perry Marshall's books are relatively dense in material, so they're generally a good value for your money.

I'm not a fan of ebooks or ebook authors at all, but after hearing that Perry Marshall was a must read, I got the book. I've researched Adwords a ton online so I've been doing about 70% of what the book mentions. In the first day, I read 70 pages and implemented 1 of the suggestions he makes to a 3 month old affiliate campaign I have. Profits have gone up 20% over the last 4 days.

Beejeebers is right in that you can find most of Perry's shit online, but it's just nice to have it in one concise document. This isn't a raving endorsement, but if you have a few hours to kill and wanna read 200+ pages, it can probably increase income.

There's more. Some of it should not be taken too literally.

He says you should mention a price in your ads so that many so called 'window shoppers' will not click on your ads and you'll save money. That never worked for me with google QS algo. With google either you spend the money or you are out baby.

Not only do I not put a price on my ads but when CTR goes down too much, I am clicking on my own ads. Rather than let competitors have the traffic? Yep I am. I'll buy all the traffic and they can suck..

I don't care what it does to the ROI or how much I am investing to get my money, I am willing to spend twice as much to get it but I'll get my profit each and every day.
so, someone might be spending $70 to get $270 and be happy with a $200 profit on few(er) clicks (till the QS goes to hell),
I might be spending $4000 to get $4500 but I am getting $500 profit and turning over way more clicks thus protecting my QS.

So, Google gets $4000 instead of $70, I get $500 instead of $270 and I also stay rock solid at position #4, which keeps the clicks coming in which keeps the QS up which keeps my minimun bid low.
This all... roughly speaking. Yep there's Google's human intervention after that but that's another story.

I have the book somewhere on one of my PC's. I'm at work now but I'll look for it and post it when I get home tonight. It's the Definitive Guide Updated about a Year and a half ago. I think that is the latest one but I don't know. At any rate I'll post it and you can decide for yourself if it's worth it or not.

when i first got started in ppc it helped me quite a bit but that was before adwords had the learning center, now you can get most of the same info there for free.

You can learn the mechanics of using AdWords in the Learning Center, but there's not much on strategy. That's what you can get out of people like Andrew Goodman and Perry Marshall.

do you remember what this suggestion was? if not for me, for the countless plgrims that will read your post in their future cybernetic travels....

one that people don't use is to make sure to have your keyword in the *actual URL* and have it in *capital letters*, does Perry M have this point in his book? was that it?

I got the book (the actual BOOK, not ebook) for Christmas last year. I read a bit of it...there's definitely some techniques in there that help. It's a good introduction - forums are good for keeping up to date.
