Phone upgrade; need recommendations

Is it possible to have 2 iPhones on AT&T for around $65/month like he requested in the original post?

Nope, but it won't be that much more -- $60/family plan + $30 for the data plans for both = $90+taxes.

Any decent phone on Verizon requires at least a $30 data plan each.

T-mobile smartphones/mp3 also require a data plan at $15 each.

Go to Newegg.com or another electronics website and get an unlocked non-smart phone.

Or, find an unlocked android-based phone on similar sites. That way, you won't have to add the extra data through your carrier.

The unlocked non-smart phones are dirt cheap but the unlocked smart phones will run you a few hundred. Still cheaper over time if you don't want data though.

My girlfriend just got the Incredible, it's fucking insane. Very nice phone.

I just got my phone replaced after trashing my old Hero, got a Samsung Moment. Android + keyboard = bliss

I just found out yesterday that Verizon has a $10/mo data plan for smartphones (including Androids) and AT&T has a $15 iPhone data plan.

Since we don't use much data, I think we're going to go with one of those. I hear a lot of good things about Verizon's network, so I'm leaning that way.

If you're relatively tech savvy, the Nokia N900 is the way to go.

If not, the Incredible, the Galaxy S and the Evo 4G are all great phones.

Just note that Verizon's $10/month data plan is only 25mb -- that is like viewing a few web pages.

My wife is on the ATT $15/month data plan which is 200mb -- she uses it to check Facebook, The Weather Channel App, etc. occasionally and that amount is perfect.

Once you get an iPhone/Android phone you'll find yourself using the internet and downloading apps a lot more than your old phone.
