Google Trends is ranking "Shuttle Launch" high because of a NASA event today. whenever there are NASA Shuttle Launches i would assume the term gets hit pretty good.

ShuttleLaunch.net
ShuttleLaunch.org

Both available. Pick it up and build a website based on all the different shuttle launches in history:

AircraftName.ShuttleLaunch.com, or
ShuttleLaunch.com/AircraftName

Use YouTube to show video of the different launches and make sure you stay up to date by providing information for upcoming launches.... they don't happen that often so it shouldnt be that hard.

Monetizing is probably even more difficult than BYA's post about Beef Recall but here are a few ideas:
  • Educational science kits for kids
  • Remote control helicopters and planes
  • Model rockets and other hobby items
  • Telescope and star watching stuff
  • auction ads for nasa and related terms
Just a quick thought... I'm not going to do it because i already neglect the projects I have because of no time... so if you think you can make it work GO FOR IT... and make sure to tell us how it goes!

The shuttle launch is tomorrow, might be hard to get any traffic for it, but you always have the launches after that, better yet you could track non-nasa launches such as the RU/EU/Satellites.

Yup. As private rides into space become more popular, there's bound to be an aff. program. Imagine the commish on those!

Good one man. You think like me I see! Again this is one of those things where you cash in for a day based on media coverage that you know will happen again. You could find 50 ideas like this with no competition and each one hits big once or twice a year in your arsenal of websites. History of launches, news feeds, amercican memorbillia.....

fuck get some $3 shirts made and sell them for $15 that say NASA Launch #__ America the Beautiful and I'm sure you'll sell quite a few to the die hards out there. nexy launch you do the same and sell shirts. I have a buddy that sells shirts based on the news and he kills it like a few times a month and sell like 20,000 at $10 profit. Do the math, $200,000 for fucken novelty shirts.

+rep!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other obligations today prevented me from taking advantage of the launch, but I'll be populating the site soon for future launches (and other shuttle related news)!

Thanks for the excellent insight into how to pick a niche and monetize it!

I snagged the .net. Should've picked up the .org as well, but I was in a rush and wasn't thinking straight (browsing the forum on the job and all that)

I'll be doing the same, Rusty :)

Blast: excellent thought about the shirts. Doing it through Cafepress (using the basic free shop) for some other sites, I'll be adding this one to the mix.

I noticed that I got tagged by the archive.org spider shortly after registration! wow! Hope g/m/y are as fast!

Need to check, but I think that NASA stuff is 'public property' and can be republished. Just need to make sure images are not (c) some non-nasa sucker with a camera!

Ok, well stayed up till 1am pecking away. shuttlelaunch.org

This is what happens when you have not thought out what you wanted to do just yet... :-O

But I did notice that Slurp has already made it around, so maybe I'll start getting some traffic soon.

Oh yea, I had visits from 3 folk other than myself or spiders, so thanks whoever!

Comments are welcome and appreciated. I know it sucks, but hopefully is only temporary for now...

Hmm... quick start, slow follow up...

Rusty, your auctionads are WAAAY off, time to pump some more content into the site?

Sorry for digging this up, but I just saw this on Yahoo front page:

Baby monitor picks up video from NASA - Yahoo! News

Get some PPC and start selling some fucking baby monitors dude!

Probably one of those RF video extender camera/monitor units, and there is a neighbor close by using a a normal RF video extender to watch the feed.

Works great in a apartment complex when you like what your neighbor watches :-)
