Pinterest valued at $7.7B

I fucking love Pinterest. It's like the ultra-condensed version of all of the "cool shit" posts on various Internet forums and blogs. The "for the home" section is awesome--always has great ideas which I want to implement on my next renovation.

My IOS search provider is Google. Google owns something like 97% of the mobile search market share.

Yes, but Google paid Apple to be the default search engine (estimates of $1 BILLION) which is why Apple recently got a subpoena from the FTC. Apple can keep squeezing more $$ out of them as long as the government allows it.

With all the money printing we will all soon be billionaires so what's a few billion for a company valuation.

this would actually be the perfect company for Google, that is if they want to remain relevant. It would satisfy their hard on for a successful social platform. Everyone see's FB as googles biggest problem, but with Apple getting rid of them for search & maps , and with more and more people getting on the IOS bandwagon they are going to become irrelevant to 50% of mobile search in a hurry.

Who are they switching to? Bing?

No body is going to give a shit about any of this 5 years from now when we are all eating each other for food.

It looks like Google lost the default position in China (but they are not the #1 search engine in China) and it looks like they are going to be dumping the Google Maps for Open Maps (an Open source project apple so nicely didnt give any credit to)

So I guess it looks like for now they still have a billion dollar a year deal to remain default so I guess time will tell what happens

iOS devices include iPads and iPods in those numbers, which aren't phones which is what I was specifically thinking of when I wrote that. As far as mobile phone share goes, Android is beating Apple hands down and the deluge of handsets from other manufacturers will continue to eat into their numbers Android Phones Pass 700,000 Activations Per Day, Approaching 250 Million Total | TechCrunch

If anyone offers them that much, they better take it. Didn't Google once offer 6 billion for Groupon? Look at where Groupon is now. I bet a few VC weren't too happy about that one.

The VC's ultimately determine when to exit due to board control. They got greedy and hopefully now they are regretting it. It's called Vulture Capital for a reason.
