He means 1st person.

Basically what they don't want is for people to think that an advert that shows a pic of a pretty girls is someones actual profile.

e.g. if you have a pic with "Hey come chat with me" the visitor would be fooled into thinking this is a real person on POF and that they would be going to visit their profile.

By also having a call to action that is basically saying "click on this and you will be going to another site" it will also be less likely for the visitor to be fooled.

Correct me if I am wrong Ben.

I don't get it. I use "She" instead of "I", as well as the words "Join Free", and they still get me on the...

"we don’t allow ads to be written in the 1st person and requires a call to action that suggests to our users they are leaving our site (sign up, register)."

Also, if I use "come to (sitename)" and "click here" in one ad, wouldn't that be sufficient for a clear call to action?

You can't make the images look like they are interacting with the user in any way. Let's say you are using a picture of some random hot girl, stuff like:

"She Wants To Meet You"
"I Want To Meet You"
"Shes Looking for California Guys"

and so on don't fly on POF. Hope this helps.

My Husband & I meet through Plenty Of Fish. Yes, it's true you can run into some pretty weird people. But overall POF is the best. If it wasn't for POF free service I would not be happily married with a child right now.

Markus are you doing forum advertising now? :D

nickster and Jcraig83 are a bunch of scholars!

Thank you RedCouchReview! While we're talking about being a member on POF.com, which ads are you most likely to sign up for? ;) Just kidding, congrats though!

I used to sell weight loss products on POF. was awesome in the beginning when the self serving advertising platform opened up in november/december of last year, then all of a sudden conversions went to shit! have had very little luck making money on POF. Any pointers or regarding frequency cap, demographics would be helpfull.

That's interesting Ben, but, the thing is, I (and POF) can't make any $ if you don't approve the ads. Since when is a girl in a bikini an inappropriate image? No popups at all. No offensive language or content. Most of the ads I see are the same thing - 3 questions to ask, BBW, Want a date tonight? Don't your subscribers get tired of looking at the same ads with different pics?

Landing Page: Cannot contain popups or "Exit Popups", offensive content or inappropriate images

Canadians hate boobs, well anything over a B cup. That is the only answer to this.

met Ben, Markus, Sheena, and Kim Kaplan at ASE10
good bunch of peeps

they were drinking a lot and dropping secrets :music07: like there was no tomorrow :D

It would be nice if our ads would automatically stop triggering for a user (forever, not per visit) once they have seen X impressions and still haven't clicked (on a per-campaign basis), or once they click the ad.

That way we know we've "exhausted" the campaign demographic when our impressions start dropping (not when our CTR plummets and we start losing money if you don't monitor it like a hawk).

Any possibility for that to be implemented?

IMO that would make me spend even MORE money.
