Hi guys,

I'm just getting started in the arbitrage game. I've got traffic going to my site, but the ads there are terrible. My niche is credit repair, and only 3 of the 8 ads that are displaying are credit related. My CTR is about 1%, I've had 2 clicks on about 220 impressions. Not so great, right?

What can I do to improve my ads? Since they really don't apply to my keyword, I am unsurprised that my CTR is so low. I don't know how to changeit though? Should I change my text? Write more? Write less?

I even tried blocking the ads which didn't apply, for things like apartments, designer bags, etc. They still show up.

Help! Thanks!

I wrote the below content for my site:

Why worry about your credit report?

It affects you more than you know.

Credit is used by various financial institutions to evalute risk. Largely, the risk of default when lending money, but also for utilities, renting homes, etc. Lenders use credit scores to determine who qualifies for a loan, at what interest rate, and what credit limits.

You’re going to want to have some way to determine who is the trustworthy person (who you would want to lend money to), the unknown person (who you would nervously loan money to), and the rogue (who you wouldn’t want to loan money to at all). This is the exact purpose of a credit report: it tells lenders if they can trust you. Credit reports is created by the three main credit bureaus are Experian, Transunion and Equifax. These companies take credit histories and create issue credit reports and credit ratings, sometimes called your FICO score. The higher the FICO score, the better.

Your FICO score and credit report are used by lenders to determine what interest rate to give you on your loans. In effect, your credit rating and FICO score are used by companies to judge how safe their money is. The higher your credit rating, the likelier it is that you will pay them back. The higher your credit rating, the easier it is to borrow money and at a lower interest rate.

What affects my credit rating and FICo score?

There are three things that are factored into your credit rating. They are your payment record, your level of debt, and the number of credit inquiries.

Your payment record lists how many times you have been on-time, late or defaulted on your loans, credit cards and utilities. Your debt level, sometimes called your debt-to-income ratio is also factored into your credit rating. This is used as a gauge of your ability to repay your current debts. A credit inquiry is made when you apply for most loans or credit cards. Having multiple or too many credit inquiries is a sign of desperation, and that you are probably a credit risk.

How do I get a copy of my credit report?

As a result of the FACT Act (Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, every 12 months, you are entitled to one free credit report from each of the three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax and Transunion.

How do I repair my credit?

Once you've received a copy of your credit report, go through it, line-by-line. Make sure that every late payment and discrepancy that is listed is correct. Contact each creditor as listed in the report and ask them to correct the mistake.

If you still owe money on accounts that are on there, get in contact with the creditor. Often times, old accounts have already been paid off, and you can get a discount on what is owed. Also, some companies are open to deleting your account from your credit history for settling an account.

Looks like a bit too much content for an arbi page, IMO. Only one or two paragraphs of that content is necessary - only enough to target the ads and eventually get your QS up, basically.

I once thought that you had to write at least 2 pages in order to make any money with arbi, until others showed my that they were making much more then me with just one paragraph.

How does it work, well if that one paragraph is a good one then and its promoting a product to buy then you'd get your click, if you are doing Adsence only then you still don't have to have a lot of content.

The main thing to remember is your trying to get clicks, your trying to force the viewer into clicking on one of your ads instead of clicking the back button, in my experince a web surfer is more likely to click an ad to exit a page rather then click the back button.

You say you've gotten 220 pageviews, how are you getting your traffic? and how long have you had this up for?

I get a high CTR for my AuctionAds, this is what I want and its why I was testing it out, plus I can generate a lead once I start paying for targeted traffic, the content in here is still quiet long and it doesn't have to be that much but like I said its only a bit of an example and not a true arbi site, you just need to blend things together and try to force the viewer to click on an ad.

It might have been better for you to just post the URL of the site that your having problems with, from there we could give some better pointers.

Hi!

I'm using 7search and searchfeed to get clicks there.

My website is Credit Report and Credit Repair Basics for Everyone

I totally lifted the template from deka, from his full disclosure thread. If anyone has a problem with that, I can use something else. I tend to overanalyze things, so for once, I just "did it." My 2 clicks have made me a whopping dollar so far.

Should I reduce the length of my content then? Maybe instead of talk about credit repair and credit reports? Just choose credit repair? Write about credit reports in a separate arbi page?

I guess this would increase my kw density for each of the terms. Would that help?

Thansk for all the help so far! Thanks!

2 out of 220 - move onto another niche and come back to this one later.
but if you don't want to do that - are you using adsense? if so try to use the competitive ad blocker and block out those ads that don't match. use the adsense preview tool and see if other ads are relevant. with all long article, do you have ads on bottom. you don't want ppl to read all way to bottom and then click back. of course ads at bottom pay less than if they click an ad at the top.

Geo-targeting! I just realized that I'm not in America. (well, I knew that, I didn't realize that would affect my ads). I used the Adsense pre-view tool to change see what other people see. I am a dunce.

However, my CTR is still abominable.

Now that I know my ads aren't terrible, I guess I've a place to start?

I posted my URL before, but I think it has to go through moderation. For those of you who don't want to wait for moderation, it's at creditrepairDOTwalletrehabDOTcom.

Thanks!

LOL! It's the wallet in the URL that's causing the handbag ads hehehe. Try running your campaigns only in the US or UK or any other areas with a lot of credit repair offers.

D'oh! So, should I just go target the purse and handbag niche then?

Thanks so much for the help, guys.

Use only one ad block and shorten the length of your article so that the entire article is only slightly larger than the ad block. Less ads usually mean more per click.
