I was reading the newspaper today and there was an article about how some guy got sued for quitting his job and then posting negative things about the company on FB/twitter.

Made me wonder that even though he is no longer employed he is sued for comments on his own personal FB wall, would it be possible to get sued for fake profile images on FB /G+(- just copying some random stranger's image and putting it), what if it shows up as part of the rich snippets; or for virtual Google places locations, when people find out it doesn't exist.

I already gotten emails from guys to take down their images I had on my sites (that too, it was a picture of some random fish that I got from G Images)!!

I guess he's probably left massive pointers to who the actual author is since it's a huge mistake most people make when trying to pretend to be someone else.

I can't see how you can sue a fake profile unless you can track it back to the actual person responsible.

Libel or slander rules would come into this I would guess? Certainly in Uk they would. Also would depend on what has been said about them.
(We all use multiple fake profiles on social networks but just not for slanderous reasons).

Here in Murica you can sue for anything, but winning the case is another thing altogether.

Keep that in mind if you start to worry about getting sued here in the Good Ole U S of A-holes!!

Fuck that company.

When you filled out the application and the job requirements, You signed one that says you don't talk shit about the company even after you quit, read the fine print

Well, I seen that many sites have the Google authorship in them. I am guessing that most of those are fake - just random images copied off of FB, but it might be possible that someone comes across that image and knows it isn't you. Could you then be sued?

Like I said, I already gotten emails for taking someone else's photo (it was a photo of a stupid fish!!!), won't people be more crazy if it were their picture?

Similarly with whois, we are supposed to enter our right info, but then G (and anyone else) gets access to all that - and privacy doesn't cut it -can faking it all screw you over eventually?

I could sue you for not posting these threads in the newbie section if I wanted to.

Would you have the money to fight me in court, or would you have to settle?

Similarly, what if you used the picture of someone who happens to really value their reputation and doesn't want some goofball faggot using their selfies to sell buttplugs online? GL bro.

First things first, the other party should ask you stop whatever it is you're doing, cease and desist. Common sense should prevail then.

Should have done some due diligence, you have the tools (tineye and google reverse image search). That being said, all creative works are copyright and belong to someone. Maybe create your own... (think, alter), not just to avoid being sued, but people these days are generally more savvy, and may well reverse image search your images to see if they are legit. I know I do, especially when stalking dating sites...

Yes they can sue you, and you will end up wasting a lot of money on legal fees for doing something trivial that doesn't benefit you anyway. I would recommend against posting anything about them, unless you are doing it anonymously.

People love to sue each other for the most ridiculous shit, it's almost like a hobby. Pretty much everything is illegal these days, so unless you're actually getting something out of posting those negative reviews there's no point doing it.
