Prayers For The Philippines, Bros

Regardless, I am sorry to hear about this awful event.

It's not fucking good enough. You only have yourself to blame for not knowing current events. You need a TV dedicated 24/7 in your work space so that you know exactly what's happening, before it's happening.

My concern is going to be the secondary deaths from typhoid and other related waste water borne agents. That kind of storm surge would fuck up most 1st world sewer treatment processes, so especially in more impoverished areas the effects will be brutal and unforgiving. If I'm not mistaken, isn't this the third time in 12 months the Philippines will have set a record on natural disaster costs? It hasn't been the best trailing 12 months for them.

Is it the idea that I don't watch the news? Or that Op opens a thread with zero details of the tragedy? Or that I was to lazy to google an unknown incedent that happened in the Philippines?

The biggest storm in, arguably, recorded history hardly qualifies as "an unknown incident". You're really that lazy that can't spend 10 seconds to open a major, nay ANY news source, before posting (huurrrr duuurrrr) "what happened?". Really?

You don't even have to open a news source once a day. This has been something in development for the last week! How can you be that detached from the world in this day and age?

Your sarcasm aside, you do not need to have a TV in your office broadcasting the news 24/7 to be vaguely on top of current worldly events.

Edit: A lot of good prayers did them OP. You can bet, seeing as how the vast majority are some flavor of Christian, that they were all praying right up to and throughout that storm. What makes you think our prayers are going to help them now?

I don't read any news sites or have a TV, so a friend told me on gtalk this morning.

Current events do not interest me. Very little of it is particularly remarkable.

I get like 98% of my news from Wickedfire, and of that 98%, almost 100% of it is useless information.

Phhhhffff... I check a couple times every day just to make sure the world isn't ending without my knowing. I don't want to have to spend a moment longer than necessary working behind this screen.

Before I google it, what happened to the Philippines? lol

I assume some really shitty weather, maybe flooding, tell me I'm Edgar Casey.

If that proves to be true, then we'll take that as a small consolation.

I assume the Red Cross is the choice place to make donations?

Certainly one of the better options. They have a decent overall percentage of donations making it to the end user compared to others, but more importantly they have the infrastructure to actually deliver them.

Half of MY VA's from the PH are online now :) Guess its out of the area and headed to Vietnam. My prayers go with them as well

My wife has been watching the Filipino news coverage and I have been amazed how many people are on the news complaining that they don't have any water to drink.... while standing around under umbrellas in the rain. Drinkable water is falling from the sky all around them.

I met my gf volunteering for the red cross, if anyone's single, volunteering is excellent way to meet qualified ladies :)

Man, if I had the time I'd go help. Filipina girls are such cuties. Always get so caught up in my own shit here though... so hard to pull myself away from it all.

There's a local pet shelter shelter I've done some volunteering at. It's on the road to a university and gets tons of college hotties in there. Can confirm volunteering is a great way to meet girls.

But didn't you know? God will never give you more than you can handle, and Jesus loves you.

Meanwhile, 10k received more than they could handle. Good stuff.
