I'm on the Board of Directors for a non-profit and I'm trying to understand how we can leverage Amazon's affiliate program to generate some revenue.

Is it possible to earn commission on anything our members purchase through Amazon - e.g. if they enter Amazon via a gateway link on our site or search Amazon from a widget on our site?

Or is it only possible to earn commission if they click on specific products we list on our site?

it's my understanding that once they click on one of your amazon links they can still purchase other products as well and you still will get commission.
However you have a 24 hour time line for them to purchase anything for you to get credit, as i believe amazon uses a 24 hr cookie in most cases.

that's correct. If they have your cookie, w/e they purchase, you get a percentage.

however they cut the commisions significantly a week or two ago.

Hi Cougarclaws,

Have you thought about using any other affiliates as there are many good ones out there.

Why Amazon? What is your non-profits-'s niche?

I don't remember the exact number, but I am sure that Amazon keeps cookie far more than anyone, and if someone buys other products clicking on your link (product), you will also get commission.

Does this 90 day cookie for Amazon thing only work for the regular Amazon.com or does it also work for their other programs? I'm not sure if my main Amazon thing even has an add to cart option or if it's even possible due to the nature of the product. I also only see a bunch of results selling software to do this- you should be able to make any Amazon link into an associates link without needing a special software program.
