Did you see a big increase in earnings by switching the auctions to buy it now only? I've been thinking about doing it, but for my niche there aren't all that many BIN auctions.. What have you guys experienced?

I tried buy it now only with direct to eBay ppc (before they changed the rules), didn't see much difference, but I'm sure it depends on the niches you are targeting.

I did find targeting only auctions ending within a day or 2 to give an increase though (as I was more likely to be the last affiliate they clicked through before making a winning bid).

After the rule change (banning direct ppc) I experimented with a couple of eBay affiliate sites, but it was no where near as successful as direct and I mostly gave up on ppc to try to focus on other stuff. When I use eBay on other sites I'm fuckin lazy and don't really do any targeted searches (really should do though).

Wow, I was working on my eBay BANS website and I noticed the same thing, for me BIN did result in more sales than bidding on an item. However, I think it does change for niche, because mine was cell phones, while the opposite result happened to the site running a Nintendo Wii based BANS

Targeted searches are the best, say you have a forum about underwear that gets a decent amount of traffic and members, launch a buy and sell forum area and make posts in that forum to specific items using ebays link tool. I recently started doing this and have seen a nice increase in revenue.....

Sorta out of context, but........

One of the things that helped my conversions was filtering for items with multiple bids. I think Ebayers get a gleam in their eye if they see something that's ending soon and it has a lot of bids. It's the desire to snipe it out from under someone else :)
