Quick Qustion: Why do Indians Call Us Sir

It's a sign of respect despite your job, income or title. Less and less common unfortunately. I wish more people did it. From any country/nationality.

I have a nice young man on my staff that, completely unprompted, calls me "Boss". "Sure thing, boss." I love it.

The vast majority of the rest call me "Sir". They are Filipinos. They rarely have contact with me as I'm the CEO and my PMs act as a buffer between us, hence the formality.

Its called dignity and respect. Something the rest of the world should adopt and get back to working hard for their daily bread, not living on meal-tickets.

That's exactly what the Union workers wanted their managers to think when they started calling them "boss" decades ago.

They did that so that they could curse their bosses without them taking offense.

BOS = Son of a Bitch backwards.

My VA call me sir all the time, she's the same age and it has always made me feel a bit weird BUT

She sent me this the other day, and I was like awww... this takes it to another level. :)

That would be all for now sir. Or should I better say, that would be all sir.
Thank you so much for everything sir.
Thanks for all your goodness.
Thanks for all your help.
Thanks for all the favor.
I wish you best in your business model sir.
I do hope that when the time comes that you have your new project or new
sites again in the future, you will never forget me to do the honor of employing
service to you.

There's nothing else that I can say sir.
Because if only I can make my own dictionary, the only definition I can give
to the compound words [my name] would be - a man with a good, sincere and genuine heart.

Again, thank you so much sir. I guess this is really and already goodbye.
Thank you, Thank you and thank you so much.
Have a great business and a blessed life ahead sir.
God bless you always.

With respect,
xxx

I don't really like getting fake respect or being spoken to formally. If people are gonna address me I want either informal terms, like mate, or my first name. I don't like being called Mr or Sir. I don't consider myself to be above anyone I meet, so I don't expect them to act like it because it makes me uncomfortable. :)

Seriously, this is coming from the guy with such an inflamed ego he chose "God" as his forum username? You don't deserve that username, Sir. You Sir, are a phoney! So either grow a pair of nuts and start acting like your better than everyone you meet or create a new username ... something like "Ghandi" would be more fitting with your attitude.

it must be "dear sir", or "dear your name"?

it would be something else if you knew him to be egoistic or arrogant via other means, ... but from a forum username?? ...

yes, i am indian, a country bum at that. and if they used "hello dear", "no dear" kind of shit they must be your (close) colleagues or one-sidedly assumed you were all very close to one another or ... and finally ... it's fucking hilarious to know they use those words without having not much close friendship with you.

Dear Sir,

Please no be racist. Indian calling sir you for making think you better than them and give outsourcing opportunity them. True entrepreneur let call them anything if them get work done cheap. Don't hate sir.

Good luck bros.

I am not from India. But I do know the Indian culture and attitude very well since I stayed in India for 3 months during a long vacation.
Indians call others "Sir" quite often, yes it is true! but they are not only calling the foreigners "Sir" - as some of us may think. From what I observed they try to show the respect by the word "Sir". When I went to an Indian bank I was able to see the receptionist there was calling all customers "Sir".

Here I share another observation: If a WF user name starts or ends with the word "seo" it is very likely it is an Indion person's account! - I don't know the reason :-) Hope some of you would have observed this too!!!

However, don't be racist! We can't expect all people to speak in the way we speak! All humans have their own freedom!
