Quirky: Socially Developing Physical Products (Startup of the year!)

^I Kinda doubt it... Without a steady stream of winners, how are they going to make their TV episode weekly?

At least for a while, it seems like your mug is going on TV if you submit a winner. (Funny how that would discourage most of the smart people but Encourage everyone with a tiny IQ.)

Monitor quirky for ideas with mass appeal.
File provisional patents before the product is selected by quirky.
Sue quirky if they try to manufacture.

^Thanks for posting that.

Wow, a whole hour-spot... Lots of pressure on the winner it appears, because they bring the winners in and worked with them in person on the formulative stages of their product...

The overall feel of the show was exactly like an episode of Top Model... I think the show may do very well for them, could run for years.

But I would never want to submit a product to them now; waaaaaaaaay to involved.

SO, it appears there could be room for another company to do this crowdsourcing inventions model too. Heck, there could be 50 companies like this one day... Because this show just glamorized invention crowdsourcing and spread the word to the masses that it exists.

i have some good ideas... but i wouldn't want to go through quirky

i wonder how hard it would be to sell the products to places like bed bath and beyond by yourself

I counted 14 different products at Microcenter the other day from quirky...

Of course all were crappy little plastic cord grippers or tie-downs... really basic crap. All sold beside Apple products!

I wouldn't think they'd even talk to you without you being able to prove you've got a factory on hand and can produce large numbers of product.
