Don't Rovers have some of the worst reliability ratings of almost any car? For that reason alone I don't think I'd ever want one.
No. They're built tough as hell and made for off-road and poor weather conditions. They've changed little on the frame in years, and that's because it's got ridiculous ground clearance (you can take a range through a lot of shit that jeeps won't make it). The second big feature is that they're made to be "field serviceable", meaning you can pop the hood on your "safari" and quickly/easily replace parts.
