Range Rover Evoque Two Thumbs Down

I should add the reason for my rant - they roads where I live are fucking full of them. They're all driven by idiots who have no idea how to handle a large vehicle. Usually mothers who aren't paying attention to the road.

We have narrow roads, and they panic when they can't pass. They won't even put two fucking wheels on the kerb. Driving at them works because they're terrified of getting them scratched up.

They also take up two parking spaces because they can't park them. More than a few times I've had to squeeze in next to them, then force my way out. Usually marks their doors up, but it's their fucking fault.

My missus their mirrors from time to time in London because they cut her up when she's cycling.

Also - all new Land Rover / Range Rover = shit reliability. If you want a proper 4x4, get a shogun or an old Mark IV LR. The very old RRs are great offroaders too. The new ones are just for mothers & posers.

Don't Rovers have some of the worst reliability ratings of almost any car? For that reason alone I don't think I'd ever want one.

No. They're built tough as hell and made for off-road and poor weather conditions. They've changed little on the frame in years, and that's because it's got ridiculous ground clearance (you can take a range through a lot of shit that jeeps won't make it). The second big feature is that they're made to be "field serviceable", meaning you can pop the hood on your "safari" and quickly/easily replace parts.

The armored discovery is pretty badass.

I'm sure if someone wanted to take the Evoque off-roading it would do just fine, probably much better than most 4*4's. But honestly, who'd want to take a $70,000 car to the sand dunes or through the woods?

And what's wrong with this being a great family vehicle? A safe family vehicle that will get you through any tough winters you might encounter.

Here is the Top Gear test drive of the Evoque...

And I'll be laughing when your stranded in a snow storm on the side of the road and I'm plowin' on through. You know, there are 'cities' that get snow in the winter...

Yeah, ok if you live in somewhere that has snow on the ground 4 months of the year, I concede your point.

However where I'm from, we get maybe 5 days snow a year and you couldn't navigate the cities even if you had a snowcat because of all the stranded buses everywhere. Plus none of the 4x4 drivers here even know what a diff lock is, let alone how to use it, so they get stranded as well.

car looks pretty wicked, all the new models have that futuristic look. If you don;t like it get the explorer like the one guy said it looks a bit alike.
