Really loving netbooks

from all of my tests (i work for an IT dept with over 76000 computers) windows 7 actually performs better than xp in a lot of cases. office 2007 applications opened about twice as fast on a windows 7 computer with a 2.4ghz P4 and 512mb of ram than on a xp computer with a core 2 duo and 2gb of ram.

EEEs are definitely still the better made netbooks, IMO.
Sure, they don't have as many "features" as some of the other brands, butr that's kind of the fucking point. You want a slimline device that has a full day's work worth of battery life, so you can use it on a plane or train without being a douche bag.
Need a bigger screen? Fucking plug it into the TV at your hotel!

In the meantime, I've hollowed out some old hardcover computing manual from the 50s, and am going to put my EEE 700 into it when I've got a free weekend, so I can have the computer book from Inspector Gadget.

Had an EEE, good for when you have absolutely nothing else. Personally I would rather drag my mbp around. I can't do any real work on a small screen and micro keyboard.

Not much difference between carrying around a 9 inch block or a 15 inch block... both can't fit in your pocket.

Got interested in the netbooks, so I searched "EEE HE1000" on google and this thread ranks #10. Kinda funny.

My small army of ASUS EEE PC's does my bidding

I got a Toshiba last summer because I need to fly on airplanes a couple of times. With all of the on-board bag restrictions, it was great to have a 'puter that fit in a big purse! It was the only way I could figure out how to carry a purse and a carry-on.

I think its a good investment, except it takes awhile to adjust to the small keyboard. Otherwise, it does everything I need when I don't want to take my wide screen laptop along.

I have the HP Mini 2140 with the high-res screen (1366x768) can't imagine trying to use one with a 1024x600 screen.
